Shooting someone is an offense worthy of getting arrested for, but getting people for saying some shit that's been on the news literally everywhere is fucked. It's also an excellent way to get people to agree with his ideology rather than squash it.

This happened in Polk County, Florida with that one Sheriff who does anything to get on TV.

People make way worse threats on the daily to all manner of phone operatives - insurance, cable companies, debt collectors, etc, and no one cares.

Make no mistake - this woman is being made an example out of at the behest of our corporate overlords.

Even without the "youre next" part, it's still objectively a threat given the context.

She might as well have said she was going to shoot up the place.

It's clearly not a serious threat, and its also debatable whether someone working in health insurance, who chose to take a job as a (generally, non-physical) human shield for the real targets, in the US really gets to call themself human.

Customer service folks get threatened on a regular basis. I worked in home reno and was literally threatened to be shot because the homeowner choose the wrong flooring and I wouldn't buy new out of my pocket.

Idk nothing she said I would take as an immediate threat to violence just more of a statement of if things continue as are that yall will be next, like she doesn't say she will do it specifically just that keep this up and you'll end up just like the ceo. Seems more like a warning as opposed to a direct threat by someone.

Threats are a criminal offense. She said, "You people are next."

With that being said, she's a mother of 3, has no previous criminal history, and does not own any firearms. It's not a credible threat. She should be released.

You can drive down the road with Confederate and Nazi flags waving out of your car and that's free speech even though any of those people would happily execute a random minority if they could get away with it, but using a health insurance motto back at the health insurance company is sooo scary

After politicians and the ruling class have told us that "gun violence and school shootings are an inevitable part of life", I can't say I feel sorry for CEOs feeling that their lives are threatened over a statement some frustrated woman who had no weapons in her home made.

On the flip side, the nameless call center person on the phone clearly wasn't the target of the "threat," nor was that person's location even really known for a threat to realistically be carried out.

Hence why I limited myself to "to a degree". Just because I agree with someone being punished doesn't mean I completely agree with the punishment, and 100k is indeed excessive, although the bail system itself is beyond fucked in general so that's no surprise.

Make death threats, you will be arrested. And should be. Its very easy to express disaste in the healthcare industry without making death threats. Also this happened in Florida, so... id believe there's credibility to the threat given how they act down there
