They need to ban tiktok. Its a toxic thing that inflated the egos of millions of NPCs and encouraged people to bother and embarrass service workers to film them and post it online. That should be a crime, but this site encourages it and it genuinely makes people not want to be in public.

The other good thing Trump wants to do is stop changing the clocks back and forth. Pick the one where it doesnt get dark at 4pm and keep it there.

They never do. They either come out with unsubstantiated conspiracy theories regarding the Chinese government or criticisms of social media in general. I actually might be in favour of laws reforming social media in general but we all know Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg won't let that happen.

Trump wasnt gonna ban TikTok because it was a toxic social cespool, it was because he hates China.

Oh social media in general has many problems and is well overdue for regulation. I'd welcome much more oversight on the data collected and shared, especially from minors.

None of these problems are specific to TikTok. Hell, Instagram does nearly everything that TT does (except have a functioning iPad app >_>) and the same people have NOTHING to say about it. Same functionality, same data collection, just one of them isn't western.

It's the inability to separate personal desire and big picture, really.

I hate social media, and TikTok. Real sick of hearing about it. If it were just me I would absolutely want it banned so I never have to hear about that shit again... But, it's not about me, and advocating for the banning a social media platform that allows news to be distributed from an enormous variety of sources, whether good or bad, is insane in this age where major outlets are essentially just mouthpieces.

it was never about banning Tik Tok. It was about getting their company to sell it to one of Trumps rich friends so they could turn it into another right wing propoganda machine like Musk did with Twitter.

When Republicans started looking at Hungary as a model of what they want the US to be I started really paying attention to what is happening with our media. In Hungary, one of the reasons Orbon has such a stranglehold on a supposed democracy is that his buddies either bought out the media and shut down what they couldn't buy. His party essentially owns all the media in that country.

Since Orbon talked at C-PAC, our media has taken a noticeable right wing hit. Elon Musk bought twitter and turned into the right wing propaganda platform X, Musk has talked about buying MSNBC, CNN was taken over by a maga loyalist, and they want to shut down TikTok. Basically every mainstream source of news that is not right friendly is being targeted.

This will be his downfall. They constantly talk about luigi and what he means. At this point he's not a person, but an idea and letting it spread will topple trump and his entire system.

Look on the bright side: Trump will be a lame duck. We only have to put up with him for 4 more years, then he'll be termed out, and we'll never have to hear about him again.

And even if he does try to get rid of term limits, he'll be in his 80s in 2028, and is in VERY poor health. Who do Republicans even have besides Trump? Vance? Please, the guy has negative charisma.

It's not Trump that I'm worried about. When you have a cult that's willing to riot when they don't get their way, that's something that could potentially last for years.
