I think you mean was. RIP to the chaos that we're going to miss out on in season 3.

I really thought the season was going to end with Dae-ho using the gun to kill everyone who stayed behind from the rebellion while everyone else was killed by the staff leaving him as the winner...cause I didn't know that there was going to be a season 3. Not against a downer ending but that would have been hmm...so I'm glad that it didn't go that way.

This. But strangely I do like the Frontman and I'm not sure that's the intent.

I think Unnie or 11 was my favorite out of the new cast.

I really hope they do something with Se-Mi's death in season 3 because right now it seems such a colossal waste. They kept alive the boring one of the pair and I wish they had done more with her.

Also I have ridiculous Asian person blindness. For a large swathe of the show I confused Young-mi and Jun-hee and thought they were the same person at times. And it's awful because looking at photos they look absolutely nothing alike so I don't know how I made such a massive mistake.

It was to the point where I thought Jun-hee was the one that died in Mingle when it initially happened and my wife was like wtf are you talking about, that's a completely separate person.

I thought S2 got better with every episode. I didn't hate the opening two, but they really upped the tension in the last two episodes particularly. Apparently S3 is in June, can't wait.

The games were all so damn good but man there was a lot of fluff in between... going to be a fair bit of fast-forwarding when I rewatch the season prior to S3 dropping. but yeah Mingle was so damn good.

Pretty much in the same boat. I wasn't really feeling the first two episodes. I think the plot of paying to locate the recruiter and then the Russian roulette scene didn't really land for me but the rest of the content has been important.

Just finished it.

The first two episodes were a bit slow but the Russian Roulette parts were quite good. Not a huge fan of the captain and police subplots though.

Once they get into the games it starts getting pretty good. There's less twists in S2 compared to S1 but I think the character dynamics are better. The voting is a good addition. I kinda wish the second game had a bit more to it, like if a team beat you you were eliminated as well. Mingle was great, it had some pretty dramatic moments.

He even had me forgetting that he was evil at times! Excellent season, just as good as the first. Only didn't care for the off-island parts because they always lead to nothing.

loved the start and a lot of the characters but the last episode had quite a bit of disappointment. 456 going from "I'll save everyone!" to "well some gotta die" is way too drastic of a change, the one time he got upset was his friend dying when he personally chose him for the most dangerous run (and not the clearly best unit for such a job), lip ring girl dying and being absolutely pointless.

i'm used to two part seasons from anime so that's what this basically is but there's still some pretty big differences at the end that seem like it needed one more episode to work out properly.

Just finished it, it was good! Had low expectations but they were surpassed. For the first few episodes I was thinking it was really great and even better than season 1, but after the first two games it started to repeat too many of the same beats from last season. Agreed that Se-Mis death was a strange decision, it all seemed to be to motivate a character that is thus far very thin and not especially likeable. And there was the other big death in the episode too so it felt a little unnecessary. Not super bothered by the lack of an ending though as we will get the final season this year.

Youre not wrong, like if there had been even one fewer day in the competition the whole thing falls apart. Players will be more inclined to look for clues and secrets now (though you could argue that they should have expected that element from The Genius and other shows Jung created). And even the creator/producers were not expecting the dynamic that was caused by ORBIT, but recreating that intentionally would probably feel forced.

But then again a lot of people think season 4 of The Genius is the best, so its not like that kind of show can only go downhill

Finished this tonight. Will just use one spoiler tag for the whole thing. Because this is me... apologies for the length!

I liked how they did a vote every round on whether to continue the games, since that feels fairer and examines human nature more. It made how people voted play a role in peoples relationships, like on Survivor. I suppose this was necessary to help facilitate the most interesting outcome.

Thanos was a great villain, who fancied himself as the Marvel baddie but was really just a wannabe. Bums me out he didn't make it to S3, but his death coming at the hands of a fork was pretty hilarious. It was also interesting trying to figure out what the hell Inho was doing as Player 001, because he obviously has something to gain by the games continuing. He wanted Gi-hun to live for his own amusement, since he's a clever bastard. So too was Captain Park, having been a mole the whole time; Jun-ho was certainly meant to survive, and then he was picked up and led on a wild goose chase. Inho really thought of everything. (I also agree that Inho's actor was stellar.)

Do agree Se-mi was more interesting than the nerd who was interested in her but too cowardly to act upon that had kind of been played out. Perhaps the intent was to shock us. That's this series for ya.

The climax was great. I was wondering where No-euls story was going, since she was fascinating. She showed she could be both kind and cold, and I was thinking tsundere trope. And then we got the James Bond type climax of infiltrating the enemys island base and having a gun battle. A perfect chance for her to change sides and kill the jerks who threatened her repeatedly. And that went nowhere. I guess theres always next season, but I didn't know that where these games would finish.

I know Gi-hun will succeed at his goal of ending the games in season 3, but at what cost? The message being thus: Sure, you can get what you want in this world if you try hard enough, not without sacrifice. The powers that be will always exert their dominance over you. So while the games might end, Gi-hun will lose a lot. Possibly even his life. The goal being to incense people into changing the system, so the good guys can win in the end.
