more like they aren't really bad like people are propagandized to think.

I think a world that has china as it's leader would be better than one with the usa leading.

From the alarmist tone of the article, I was expecting a greater differential between the percentage of Taiwanese TikTok users that believe in alleged pro-China arguments compared to non-TikTok Taiwanese demographic. After reading the article, it seems like the highest difference is about 10% (i.e., 50% of TikTok users believe a specific argument while only 40% of non-TikTok users believe the same argument). So, if 40% of non-TikTok users in Taiwan believe the same argument, that makes me think that there are non-TikTok mediated reasons that Taiwanese people believe in these arguments.

That's why the Chinese government always supports the KMT candidate for president and many KMT politicians travel to mainland China to meet the government members of the CCP, but left-wing DPP Taiwanese politicians don't do that (they would probably be arrested if they did).

That guy won and met with Xi in Singapore. He tried actively suppressing Taiwanese independence and it led to protests. He was certainly trying to move Taiwan in the direction of reunification. The KMT hasn't won the presidency again since then, but they were close last time (only lost due to a stupid ploy with running a third party guy to split the vote, but it probably hurt them more).

This is a complete lie.

The KMT is the successor party to the one that ruled the Republic of China, before the communist takeover. Their position is that they are the true government of all China, not the CCP.

China prefers this, because the CCP and the KMT both view Taiwan as part of China, with the difference only being who should be in charge.

They literally are pro-unification and you wrote it in your own post. And Ma literally met Xi, moved Taiwan closer to Xi, and even went to China again in 2023 to promote closer ties before the last election. Neither side makes any secret that the KMT is preferred by China.

Unification with China means unification UNDER Chinese rule (CCP).

The KMT is for Chinese unification with Taiwan, meaning unification UNDER KMT rule.

Those are not the same no matter how many times you try and obfuscate it.

Those points are both true. That's why they get support of the CCP and have politicians visit the mainland unlike the DPP. Because they agree on reunification. You are correct that they don't agree on the government structure of that reunification per se (though they probably would sell Taiwan out under a two systems one country system like Hong Kong used to have). I really don't get what you're so upset about. You basically redefined reunification to be mad about it when that's literally been the KMTs thing forever.
