Hina's a great character, but I wasn't that into the love triangle featuring her, especially considering she never had a chance there - just give her her own guy, IMO!

That triangle was slow and annoying and really hurt Hina as a likable character.

The series is so much better before and after that plotline.

Nah there were at least a handful of chapters where they are just friends. Hina even does some wingman help for Taiki early on.

Then she starts to get feelings when it actually seems to start working and she sees them getting closer.

I can't say I disliked any of those parts, but I was much more interested in what came after.

It's...wierd. I am glad I watched the show and definitely get how someone could love it, but I kind of....hate it? I thought it was good and I enjoyed watching the episodes but I...don't...like it lol. Not really sure how to voice how I feel. I think there's some air that it feels like the creators thought they were making something way better than they actually were, but that probably applies to most original anime. Probably a weird take to have given the subject matter of the show itself.

I do appreciate Mappa making another original at least, instead of another big adaptation. Great simuldub, too.

Now just give me Zombieland S3 please and thank you.

Solo Leveling is the most underrated anime of Winter.

I've read it. Unless it's a completely different story with a different plot, it isn't.

My guy, if you're watching Solo Leveling for the plot, you're absolutely not doing it right.

I finished watching Terror in Resonance. Solid enough show that didn't overstay its welcome too long. Started to wonder what Lisa's whole reason for even being in the show was, but late revelations about the main characters started making that make a little more sense in the end.

I loved Solo Leveling, but haven't had time for the anime.

I really liked the MC.

He's a better version of the character trope that is so present in that type of series.

And the low level shadow soldiers were good gag background characters.

But you're right that the shadow soldier PoVs were fun. The best part of the entire series were their epilogue chapters after it was over.

Solo Leveling lacks substance, and is generally liked for very shallow reasons, but I could also say the same about most of what anime fans like (including in this topic) so I'm not about to start throwing stones in a glass house and say it's some travesty of the industry.

Well, yeah, I mean I would take it over almost every single LN slop anime that comes out every season.

It's an issue of expectation and resources versus final product. Those shows all suck but you expect them to suck. Solo Leveling costs a billion dollars. It's like that completely worthless anime from 3 or 4 seasons ago about a Wizard academy. Absolutely incredible looking, tons of industry talent, all for the most basic bitch shallow Black Clover knockoff out there.

Wistoria isn't nearly as good as Solo Leveling!

One of the key things that makes SL (the anime) great for me is the pacing. There's always stuff going on, and fights never overstay their welcome. The author/director/whoever really have a knack for keeping things moving. Something like Wistoria had more of a penchant for dragging out scenes focusing on boring dialogue or whatever.

Also worth noting that the music is great.

AveMuji has an incredible narrative and there won't be anything better this year. Something being a mess doesn't mean it's bad! Solo Leveling wishes it has anything in it's entire run front to back that was as good as any random five minute chunk of Mujica.

idk I can't even really wrap my brain around the appeal of idol stuff, whereas I can at least see the appeal of sakuga fighting. Not that I'm watching either of these things...

Every single person I've ever seen talk about Re:Zero who has read it says this is the best part.

If the source material ended today, how many seasons would there be?

Season 3 was Arc 5, and 9 arcs are printed, with a planned 3 more (so the books are 75% done, at least from an arc standpoint).

I would assume based on this season and last season that the intention from this point on is to release non-standard seasons lengths to cover exactly 1 arc at a time, so I don't think it's as clean as asking how many cours there would be. There will probably be 7 more seasons of Re:Zero anime in varying lengths, unless one or more of these arcs is waaaay off in length.

Watched the finale. It's basically to be expected at this point that they're going to fuck with you big time in the last 30 seconds lol.

Great season, really don't have any issue with the entire thing basically being one prolonged engagement because it was so stuffed with content that it didn't feel drawn out at all. I'm particularly impressed with how they managed to slip in everything they needed to for the Sword Saint novels to make the narrative flow without just hard stopping to do like 3 or 4 episodes devoted to it. I've read those novels but I don't feel like it would have been a problem if I hadn't, compared to the Crusch stuff where I think the show could maybe have stood to include some more of those for her part in this story (and maybe that time will come later, I haven't ready any of the main series novels, and obviously she's far from done in this story and I guess it wouldn't add anything to this portion specifically, per se).

Even if they hadn't announced season 3 immediately after airing like they did (hell fucking YEAH), I would be completely satisfied with this final episode that was almost entirely performances, because....holy SHIT what an unbelievable set of performances they were. I'm going to watch that first AveMuji song a dozen times over the next few days. I really thought we'd peaked for Bang Dream presentation, but we even surpassed the Girls Band Cry performances with this set. Literally chills as the last song was coming to a close.

What a fucking masterclass of a series, even if the Winter anime season wasn't almost entirely a complete dud I can't imagine anything would have come close.
