Yep I'm 47 and have had a dishwasher in every home that I have lived in since I was 13. We used them all the time. Our first dish washer wasn't a built it, it was on wheels and had to be rolled over in front of the sink and then connected to the nozzle on the faucet. Shoot, that was the same house that we got our first microwave. We didn't know anybody else that had one yet. It was pretty big. My mom won it in some contest from Coca Cola.

Yeah but it's been broken for like 5 years. Makes a whole lot of noise and the dishes still be dirty.

I don't make enough dirty dishes to worry about buying a new one.

Never even used one. Now I live by myself in a flat with a kitchen that has room for either a washing machine or a dishwasher but not both. Since manually doing the little washing up I produce by myself is a hell of a lot less work than hauling all my laundry to the nearest laundrette the decision makes itself.

Yep. Two actually; the current house has a fixed one and weve also got a portable countertop one (as our last few houses did not have one).

my parents had one

i had one at my first through fourth apartments, and haven't had one at the last two apartments.

i wish i did have one, i hate manually washing dishes.

EDIT: all apartments with dishwasher were shared and thus the dishwasher actually was worth using. current apartment is also shared (4 of us) so def would be worth using

Mine broke last weekend and I haven't managed to get a replacement yet. I'm going to go shopping for one this weekend, but that will require getting over a cold by then.

The only house I have seen without one is my Grandma's, and it's a really old house. Apparently they built it themselves back in the day. My grandma is 102 years old.

I have one but don't use it.

The funny thing is growing up the one household chore I really disliked was dishes and always told myself when I bought a house I was going to have one because I never had one growing up until the house we were in when I was in high school. It was one of the main things I really wanted.

I bought my house 21 years ago and was so happy to have a dishwasher. I used it for like maybe a year and then never used it again. I always cleaned everything off anyway and only basically used it as a sterilizing machine.

It really is easiest just to wash as I go when I cook and after eating just washing my bowl or plate and setting it in the sink and then just reusing it my next meal.

Yes, have always had one since the early 2000s when we got the kitchen in our old home renovated and had a dishwasher installed. I use the one I have in my apartment now all the time.

I do. I use it infrequently (I live alone, and generally just wash up whilst dinner's cooking) but it's lovely to have.

My parents went years without having a dishwasher, but when they eventually relented after my constant arguing for them to get one themselves, they realised it was amazing and use it very frequently (Asian family, the amount of crockery they get through just to cook a curry is incredible haha)

No, I'm not that one.

With the exception of a few very large pans and my cast iron skillet, I don't buy any cookware, silverware, or serving dishes that aren't dishwasher safe. Ever since I moved out of my parents house, I pretty much have exclusively used a dishwasher at least once a week.

Also, I mentioned them in general in my post earlier but some serious advice: If you live in rentals (or otherwise cant install a dishwasher) but want one; countertop ones are a thing! You fill a water tank thats built into them (just using a jug or whatever) and they drain into the sink. Theyre light enough that you can just put it away when not in use, too.

Fucking amazing invention, and the only reason I dont still use one is because I have a proper dishwasher now.

Yes

I went a few years in cheap apartments after college without but have always generally had one. I had one that I never used and my roommate used it to store dishes in which she said was a Korean thing I dont know how true that is but it was a revelation for me that I had all this store space just sitting there available I wasnt using.

you dont have to unload it. once its clean, use the dishes from the dishwasher and put them in the sink.
once you used up all the clean dishes, reload them and run the dishwasher.

super convenient. I do the same thing with clothes, but for that I have two laundry baskets. once they're clean, I'll start wearing them from the basket, and put them into the empty basket once dirty. once that basket is full, it's time to do laundry again.
only thing is clothes get wrinkly, so I do fold them before putting them into the clean clothes basket.
