Like, there is no goddamn way it was anymore harmful to society than anything else. We didn't ban FaceBook when they allowed for disinformation and gore, we didn't ban telegram even though it probably have more trading of illegal content than the dark web, we didn't ban Twitter after "cancel culture". We didn't ban GFAQs after that psycho burned down a church. The security issue with Chinese government more or less monitoring it and controlling it I get. That is absolutely a problem, especially with the rise of BRICS and the second cold war we are in right now. But why TicTok specifically? The argument for the current system is they need to do capitalism and have things like billionaires and no labor laws in order to build the infrastructure to implement socialism in the future. But no one really believes or cares about this in China. They just want a good economy so they can get more money to buy more things and show off their things to everyone else.
