I don't need the Switch 2 to be technical juggernaut. A spec bump would be nice but just to run things more efficiently.

If you want PS5 level hardware you can buy a PS5 or build a PC

Hybrid. A lot of nintendo games get the most out of the hardware. It also benefits from a lot of cartoon-ish titles, which makes things seem to show their age less.

Using the Switch name for a traditional console makes no sense. If Nintendo were to go that route, it should just be a brand new console with new branding that happens to have a Switch cart slot in addition to an optical drive.

Docked only Switch 2 with the same power it will have, just cheaper for not having a screen. Like the PS TV was for the Vita

I have never cared about portability/handheld use. I used Switch docked all the time and always used a pro controller and not the joycons.

I would 100% prefer it to just be a pure console but then we wouldnt get the amazing titles that were traditionally hand held titles like my favorite Rune Factory series.

So I would be damaging the library by choosing it as a pure console machine.

While I play mostly docked, I do like having the ability to take it with me sometimes so I'm cool with hybrid

If I want something PS5 level, I'll just play PS5. Most Nintendo games certainly don't need it.

I think I've played my Switch docked probably two or three times for some co-op. It's nice, but if it were not portable, I wouldn't have used it as much.

My partner at the time got me one specifically so I could travel with it on long flights.

I dont even want PS5 level power. More powerful consoles have been driving the creation of crappier games that focus on the wrong things.

^This. I'll never understand the appeal of hand held unless you have no choice.

I never use it portable, but being equivalent to a PS5 would make it a lot more expensive, so of the two I'd prefer hybrid.

Docked just to see what Nintendo would do with having generation power parity.

I get why it has to be hybrid though.

i almost never play handheld, and i agree with this. i dont need 'photo realism' in my video games, and i dont want to pay for the processing power to do so. i just want them to be fun to play.

I don't think you could really call the Switch 2 a 'Switch' 2 if it's not going to be a hybrid machine.

Before we had the original Switch, I used to split my time fairly evenly between console gaming and handheld gaming so the concept of the Switch is much more useful to me than a powerhouse machine.

I'd prefer to have a console that offers a flexible and convenient experience than one that's tailored for just one environment.

With the Switch 2, it'll probably perform well enough that the console aspect of it doesn't feel as hamstrung by the need to make it work as a portable machine like the original Switch occasionally did with some of the more demanding games. It'll be a much better Jack of all Trades than the original Switch.

What I've seen in some of the reveal breakdowns, that went completely over my head when I first saw it, is that it looks like the Joy Cons might now have some kind of mouselook style functionality built into them, which sounds niche on the surface but could open up some interesting gameplay refinements for FPS/3D precision based games. Having little things like that added into what is already a very versitile system is making this thing look like it'll be much bigger than the sum of it's parts, and far more intriguing to me than a console designed simply to go toe to toe with a PS5 in power.

Hybrid, obviously. I just play my Series X or PC or PS5 when I want more power.

also, the only reason i own a Switch is for first party games (Mario, Zelda, Metroid, etc.) that don't appear on PC. and those games aren't going to super high fidelity / realistic graphics, and have never required cutting edge tech. a hybrid version would be fine with me.
