Not sure what good this will do if Trump can just erase it in a few days...unless I'm missing something.

If it becomes the 28th Amendment it will be difficult to undo, but legal and illegal don't matter to Trump so who knows.

Five states really tryna do take backs on ratifying an Amendment? SCOTUS has the weakness to attack it.

This isn't going anywhere. The ratification deadline was in 1982.

There's a legal theory that the ratification deadline was unconstitutional, since there isn't supposed to be a deadline attached to constitutional amendments. That will now have to be adjudicated in the courts.

Still, when Trump returns to the White House on Monday, there is little that cant be undone. Just as Biden spent his first hours in office reversing some of Trumps biggest moves, rejoining international pacts and signing executive orders, so, too, can Trump cancel much of Bidens agenda.

So not much Biden is doing is permanent.

Good, I suppose - but you have to wonder why the hell he didn't do this in his first week instead of his last.

Which had no deadline set, unlike ERA.

if that's the case I can see it used as argument for ERA since it set a precedent for an amendment taking over 200 years to be ratified

Except the ERA had specific verbiage that it had to be ratified by a set date, which is what congress initially agreed to. The 27th had no sunset clause.

Especially with these courts, this is going nowhere.

The courts will rule that the deadline was constitutional

No it didn't. The text of the amendment itself has no such verbiage. The Congressional resolution proposing it did, but the deadline was itself unconstitutional. Though obviously a Republican SCOTUS will pretend otherwise.

it's one of the bad things about being president since every president generally would wanna go for 2 terms, they spent of the first terms kissing ass so they have a chance od second term

I would suspect the idea is to get this out in the news cycle of republicans being against equal rights.

The problem, unfortunately, is that the general American voting populace has shown they do not give 2 flying fucks about equal rights and actively wish more people DIDN'T have equal rights.
