people need to start directly confronting the workers over this bullshit. stare them right in the eyes and say "do you really think you deserve a $50 tip here? could you afford to tip that much? stop asking me to subsidize your wages so your employer can maximize their profits"

You tip 0% all the time every time. No matter what.

If anyone ever confronts you directly about this, you pull your gun out.

No problems.

You'll get 25% percent and if you INSIST you get 15%.

My tips cap out at $1-3 regardless of the orders cost.

you mean those same workers who get passive aggressive if you dont leave the tip they feel entitled to? or the ones who stare you down as you glance down at the screen to select their tip? or the ones who make little comments like "please understand this is hard work and pick the option accordingly"? or "please consider that we are standing out here in the hot sun so you can make your purchases. if this is valuable to you, please leave us a 'thank you'".

im just tired of these greedy ass business owners shifting the responsibility of providing decent wages onto customers. again, the approach i outlined originally is probably too aggressive and a lowely retail employee doesn't deserve that sort of confrontation. but there is nothing wrong with politely explaining why you refuse to tip in those situations, or that the preset options are wildly inappropriate.

okay internet tough guy. yes, i came off too strong in my original post. i admitted that for the third time now. but responding to that with stuff like "fuck off" and "fuck outta here" is so ridiculously childish, and behavior you only see online. you could have approached this disagreement in a civil way and had a reasonable discussion instead of going full blast into attack mode.

i realize that i, too, was being a bit of an 'internet tough guy' here. i would almost never be that aggressive or confrontational towards a retail employee, or anyone else, in person. and even though tone is lost with text, the language i used was unnecessarily confrontational, especially given the intended audience of a retail employee, so i see how i came off more aggressive than i intended.
