The dwarf thing is just so ridiculous I can't be bothered to watch it even if it ends up being good.

That movie was legit terrible though and anyone who watched the trailer knew it would be bad.

The original is a classic loved to this day, 2016 will likely be forgotten 30 years from now if not 10.

I care about these roasts marginally less than I care about the movie and I don't care about the movie at all.

My first thought was "Is it even out yet?" and now my second thought is that if you're the sort of loser who obsesses over hating on movies that aren't even out yet what you need is to get a fucking life.

the outrage is the only reason I even still remember this movie exists. at least until they play commercials for it during Jeopardy or March Madness (if it's out around then) or whatever

Like I just look and see "oh wow it's Disney making a live action version of an actually good movie that couldn't have been made in live action" and move on

A completely unnecessary live action remake of one of their classics always deserves hate.

Like, the best attempt they had so far was Beauty and the Beast, and they couldn't even do that without being only half as emotional in the songs and adding a random magical wish book that literally breaks the plot (why didn't she just use it to teleport back, etc).

How long has this film been in development? I swear it was being talked about like 3-4 years ago. How has it still not come out?

Plans for a remake of 1937's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs were confirmed in October 2016, with Wilson announced as a screenwriter. Webb entered talks to direct the film in May 2019 and was announced as director in September 2019. Filming took place primarily in London, England, from March to July 2022, with additional filming and pick-ups taking place in June 2024.

Wasnt there some dumb manufactured non-troversey around the lead actress at some point? I feel like I remember people being weirdly mad at her for some stupid reason.

I don't think it was terrible, but it certainly wasn't good.

Now the first trailer, that was terrible. Looked like it had been put together by a first-year editing student with a hangover and a bad attitude.

The CGI dwarfs look terrifying, ugly and hideous. They should've just used live actors instead.

Well, they would have, then Peter Dinklage made some comment about it being "backward" to cast dwarf actors as dwarf characters, and some bright light at Disney agreed, so only one actual dwarf (Marty Klebba from Pirates of the Carribbean) stayed on.

Needless to say, a lot of dwarf actors felt like this was Dinklage pulling the ladder up behind himself and were not happy with this outcome.

It does feel like he's lifting the ladder up behind him. Tyrion Lannister is a much deeper complex character than the 7 Dwarfs but Tyrion could've been a caricature and the 7 Dwarfs can be better represented. With the 7 Dwarfs being in a movie there's less time to develop them, they're side characters so that's even less time, and they play a comedic role in the original film which can easily turn into caricatures, but a better solution would've been to hire more dwarves to be involved offscreen in the development phases.

I don't think she was as big a deal as the hideous CGI dwarves

The quality doesn't matter. It will be review bombed to oblivion and panned across social media even if it was the greatest movie of the decade.

It'll probably have some legitimate flaws. 0.0005% of people that refer to these flaws were actually put off by those flaws. 99.9995% of people that complain about those flaws actually only hate it because it's woke, and they are racist.

Those comments about how she doesn't need the poisoned apple because she's already toxic, or how the apple wasn't poisoned until she bit it got me laughing. The lead was so cheerful about deconstructing everything in the original that it will unite people in hating the movie.

A lot of dwarf actors were quite upset with him over this and also blaimed him for the Time Bandits series not using dwarf actors. I agree the dialogue around this has been misconstrued, but I don't think anyone wanted less work for dwarf actors and just replace them with CGI.

The story of Snow White kind of sucks tbh. So this isn't for me. The cartoon version was notable for being absolutely beautiful animation for it's time that still holds up today. Being live action takes away it's best aspect.
