I hadn't planned on playing this but my buddy bought it for me so my hand is now tied.

What's the most brain dead OP builds, and any beginner tips? More points if the build is long range or summoning minion horde types.

For brain dead long range builds you can try an archmage spark stormweaver, spark bounces off the walls so you don't have to aim and does alot of damage with just spamming the one move, very fast clears with it.

If you are lazier and playing with people you can do a triple curse aura full support chronomancer, that's what I'm doing and it's really nice. You do no damage at all so you have to rely on other people for damage, but you are unkillable from having really high energy shield (I'm at 8.8k rn), your slow and damage debuff curses (currently I'm at 83% slow and -37% damage on monsters), high/maxed block chance that is shared to your team, and the chronomancer time skills that let you freeze everything for like 3 seconds (including bosses). Basically you play the tank and cc the mobs and let everyone else kill the stuff, if you don't mind doing no damage then this is as brain dead as it gets + anyone you play with will greatly appreciate all the cc and easier boss kills.

As for tips, the biggest thing is probably to look to max your resistances once you start getting to endgame, you will be taking so much more damage in endgame if you are at like 50% resistance to something vs 75% or even like 60-70% vs 75%. Also you can reforge gear if you have 3 of the same type and rarity, so for at least rings and amulets if you get some with bad/sub-par stats it's best to keep your extras to reforge them to have another chance of getting a good one. I have like 2 stash tabs full of bad rings and amulets that I reroll whenever I'm bored or have some down time.

Also for the passive tree if you aren't following a guide you can just search for whatever damage type you use and work towards those and you will be generally fine. For example if you are doing an ice damage build, you can search "spell damage", "elemental damage", and "cold damage" and pickup whatever is glowing and whatever defensive stat you use for survivability and you will generally be fine until at least mid-high tier maps (at which point you will probably have enough gold for a full respec if you aren't having fun).

Minions are pretty braindead although the beginning kind of sucks. I want to say my friends were doing big damage with lightning arrow?

Monk seems good and broken, I rolled with that. Not realizing the first boss is a pain in the ass with monk. But now I'm good with a bow until I can get some good staff moves going at level 14.
