The mother finds her son's spotify playlist and then tells him why he shouldn't be listening to this music. How do you feel about her parenting here?

So the kid is 13-14? Yeah I'm not naive and know kids that age will swear but as a parent or even Uncle in my case I won't encourage the kids to swear or let them listen to music with swearing in it while around me. I do like uncensored music but I wouldn't play it around kids too. You claim she's telling him "why he shouldn't be listening to this music" however she's clearly ok with playing it around him for a youtube video so bad parenting. You can't tell kids not to listen to bad words while also saying the words yourself.

Terrible. It's hard to be anything besides a bad parent when it's on YouTube.
You need to be honest and accepting of kids. If what a parent doesn't like and what a parent thinks is bad are the same things, the kid is gonna confuse the two. Teens are gonna do what they what, so all you can really do is teach them the best you can.

It's both good and bad parenting. It's good because the songs are nasty and improper, and no one in the world should use cuss words or talk about sexual content (except for medical issues). The mother is right to explain why he shouldn't be listening to those songs, but the way she explained it isn't good. She kind of yelled at him and she also used the cuss words, which is being a bad role model.

As far as parenting goes, probably good. Is it effective? Most likely not. At that age, anything the parents tell you not to do specifically, you wanna turn around and do 5x as much. That's the nature of stupid teens. She's making her own job harder.

Also, the music is trash. Both lyrically, and from a music theory standpoint. Doubly so if the artist doesn't write their own lyrics or produce their own beats.

Any parenting that involves exploiting your child for YouTube views is bad parenting.
