Flying an aircraft is not like driving a car. Asking "why couldn't they have just moved out of the way" or "how could they not have seen the lights" is a natural thing for a layman to ask but when it comes from the POTUS, who should have PR for this kind of thing, it's insulting and embarrassing.

Asking why ATC didn't tell the heli what to do and why they were asking for visual confirmation is another fine thing for a layman to ask, but coming from the POTUS with such an accusatorial tone is downright reprehensible - everyone in that tower and every pilot who was in that airspace are going through a traumatic experience, the last thing they need is international finger pointing courtesy of the world's most powerful dipshit.

All signs point to an error on the helicopter pilot's side, but even so the situation has to be handled with a delicate and sympathetic hand - not an all caps, simplistic reaction.

This exactly. If only we had a leader who could unite us at tragic times like this. Reassure and console. And most importantly, support an investigation that could make air travel safer instead of tainting it with dumb statements designed to shift blame and demonize people.

This man is completely selfish and completely dumb. All he has to do is comfort the nation and get out of the way and let the experts work. But he can never just shut the fuck up. So during the Covid tragedy we get the medical advice to inject Lysol into our veins to stop it, and during this tragedy we get ridiculous comments that are going to impede the mourning and investigation before it even begins. And on and on it goes from a man who cares about no one and isnt qualified to do anything.

How could people put a person like this in any kind of power? Not once, but fucking TWICE?

Oh yea, it was DEI for sure. On Trump's first days in office he tried to fix this whole thing by firing the FAA director, halting all traffic controller hiring, disbanding the aviation safety advisory committe and then attempted to buyout all the existing FAA employees into retiring early, but the woke was too deep, and got the plane anyway.

Sad.
