I was checking out a clothing shop like Ralph Lauren, and their Amazon storefront is incredibly sparse compared to their website which has more clothing and items for sale.

This isn't the first time either, I've noticed it with plenty of other sellers especially if they have their own website. This makes no sense, why have some items but not others. I prefer shopping on amazon rather than going to a 3rd party's website.

They get more money if the sale is through their website

Amazon has a rampant problem with counterfeit goods and they refuse to do anything at all about it. some brand names are reluctant to sell on Amazon for fear of tainting their reputation, and have limited stock there.

I assume Amazon takes a cut. Meaning, if they can get you interested enough to look at their store page and their store page has a link back to their site...

Most of them are a lot of hassle, rejecting card, shipping address, weird nonsense things and rules. Amazon has never had that problem with me in the past. It's just that the actual site is garbage and I haven't really liked shopping on it the past 10 years since they changed the layout.

Not 100% sure if its the same reason but my friend used to work at the Apple store and always hated the people that brought their phones from Amazon and then went to the store to try to return or exchange it for a different model.

Now I'm assuming Ralph Lauren can do exchanges from their website to their store but not from Amazon so they purposely put less on there?

Those reasons make sense, but it's a shame it is that way. Wonder if there's a workaround.

Amazon is shit now, its just third party sellers re-selling with insane mark-ups.

most of Amazon is just one large store page for other businesses.
the best thing to do would be find the thing you want, look at who makes it, and then go and order it directly from them instead
