Air traffic controllers were emailed by the Trump administration urging them to quit their jobs and take mass buyouts just 24 hours after the D.C. plane crash.

Yeah, flying is technically the safest form of travel but that's largely thanks to ATCs, so with even fewer of them I don't trust it anymore. Hopefully most of them join the rest of the federal workforce in telling Trump to go fuck himself.

I think someone mentioned that it was the same tactic and letter used when he took over Twitter. In that instance, he lied about the buyout and the people who took it have yet to receive their money.

I work for the USDA and when I came into work today they had sent a follow up email to the deferred resignation that I can only summarize as: this is completely legit, valid, and lawful and youll definitely get paid.

and then about an hour ago they yelled at us about pronouns in the signature block. Which is funny because they sent it out after close of the usual business day on a Friday.

While we do need it, I'm scared if it happens. It will just give trump an excuse to declare martial law and they can just cancel future elections without needing to file the paperwork.

It's to accomplish two things. 1-make it harder for pregnant women to travel to states without abortion bans (and eventually just women in general once the birth control ban comes around), and 2-make it harder for non-citizens (doesn't matter if they are legal or not) to travel to states that are less cooperative about orange furher's deport non-whites campaign.

But crippling air travel in general would devastate some industries and cause significant impacts on many more, and piss off a LOT more people than just those demographics. Among all the stupid/bad shit this administration is doing, this seems to have especially high potential to backfire on them badly and quickly. Like, I don't think there's a very long chain of events between ATCs quitting en masse and mass protest/striking/unrest, even with how complacent the general public has been.

Reading every job description is hard. Knowing where they have not enough employees vs too many is even harder. Much easier to just ask everyone to quit. Thatll surely give us the small government they want.
