Without Joss (and for good reason) to guide it, I doubt it'll feel inspired and instead likely follow modern trends which will ultimately end up with a Buffy who hates us for loving her as she deconstructs everything that made the original show great before finally relenting to whatever mentee they cast who manages to change Buffy's mind at the last minute resulting in her sacrificing herself and passing the torch. Then get cancelled. I don't know, my emotions say I don't want this because as much as I can see some of the good parts of the sequel trilogy of Star Wars, I can't unsee so much of what they did to characters I loved. But logically, there IS a chance they can make a good Buffy follow up and if they never try, it will never happen.
