How is the ps5 anything like the wii u?

Its selling well, doesn't have a stupid gimmick tablet controller and is actually getting support from 3rd party devs.

Sure there's been stumbles and questionable choices, who really wanted psvr 2?

But other things have been surprising, portal for example. I'm sure a lot (myself included) thought that was going to flop and I think has surprised even Sony with how it's going.

Don't care. I'm a Nintendo loyalist, have been since the 90s. Yes that includes the Wii U, which I did own and enjoy. Hate on it all you liked, I had fun with it.

Wii U had great games, just bad decisions in marketing and such. Sony has okay games but they spend too much time on the cinematic type of games and try too hard to push Triple A games...ignoring many of the other games we've come to love.

I think the last couple of games I really enjoyed was Ratchet and Clank(the most recent) and Spider-Man. I have played an hour or two of 2 but it was starting to feel a little too much like the first game and I was already burned out.

But honestly, they should at least increase their library or something because it just feels like they're making sequels for games that don't really need sequels...or at least for games that have recently had ones. Where's a remake of Legend of Dragoon?

Sounds accurate. Wii U was horribly marketed as a console but it still had good games worth playing. It's just all of those good games are being ported so there's no reason to get it outside of piracy now.

The issue right now is not cinematic games, yes I'd love to see more variety such as revival of some old RPGs like Legend of Dragoon, Wild Arms and Legaia, (or heck, give us a new Alundra, try to compete with Zelda) the issue right now is Sony went all in on live services and then the live service model crashed and they had little else in active development.

Very unlikely. Switch 2 is already gearing up to have more 3rd party support than Switch 1. A bunch of their franchises are in prime time for their next mainline game to be released near launch. Its reveal trailer has gotten views faster than Switch 1 and PS5s combined.

Yeah. If that happens, it won't just be Nintendo losing.

I don't see the Switch 2 failing like the Wii U did. The marketing's already clear that it's an upgrade from the regular Switch and that was a major issue with Wii U's.

8th best selling home console currently and could eventually past the ps3 in sales. like ps4 still is getting games made for it for years after. it'll probably be 2-3 more years before we get a ps6. if it only goes 6 years then it's end of next year but with them just coming out with the slim i'd expect more of a 7-8 year cycle now. hardware isn't advancing enough for people that want to jump to the next thing and i know a lot still on ps4 that didn't bother to upgrade.

the only sony system that would be on par with the wii u is the vita which sold even worse than it. probably the portal as well if that was a console and just not an accessory. portal sold 2 million. $200 controller which is what most casuals thought the wii u was just a $400 tablet controller add on and not an actually new console gen since the marketing was so bad.
