I know that's a wide range but I assume at least one person here can relate to me

I just quit my job and live 10 minutes from a casino, so Im contemplating. Ive only left a casino losing money one time, and it was when I decided to try slots (and I lost BIG because slot money goes by insanely fast, absolute scams).

Sticking to blackjack Ive only ever broke even or won pretty big.

What are your local casinos rules? I almost exclusively play Blackjack.

If you can actually count cards you can create a winning expectation but doing it on a professional level will absolutely get you banned from a casino.

But if you cant you are very much just getting lucky and will lose given enough time.

Also yes counting is good, but you can successfully actually camouflage yourself at a reasonably large casino. Imo. You'll get flagged on pretty obvious signs like splitting up 10s so don't do that.

The larger casinos are pretty good about protecting their profits. At the very least I've played enough blackjack to see them toss people out real quick. They pay more attention to the spread of your bets than the actual play. Since bet spread is how you actually make money counting.

Well yes red, traditional bet spreads are pretty easy to catch. That's why you don't do that.

Also they toss you out of double deck insanely quick for sure but that's not a thing in my area.

I've been to a casino once in my adult life. I put $20 in a video poker machine, won $20 and said "I'm good".

I walked through the slots area and it was filled with the saddest, most bored people on earth.

Videogames are just way more fun.

Dammit, I wrote a big post explaining my process, but it got erased.

Rules are pretty standard as far as I know. Lowest table is $15 minimum, blackjack pays 3 to 2, no phones at the table, no alcohol outside of the bars, etc.

Anyway tl;dr is I use the martingale method, and starting at the minimum bet my luck hasnt run out yet. When Im up a good bit I put some winnings straight in my pocket and refuse to touch it, and if that amount is high enough Ill get greedy with successive bets until I lose all that, but by the time that happens Ive already pocketed profit.

yeah the appeal of martingale is definitely that it's great until it's not... you've never lost like, 5 hands in a row? been burned on unrealistic roulette colour streaks more than once, will never forget the legendary 14 reds in a row. Prefer the term "gambler's ruin" nowadays. ;)

Yeah actually one time I lost 7 in a row lol, but it was after I had pocketed some earnings so I came out alright.

$15 minimum bet, martingale strategy, seven losses in a row? Isn't that around a $2000 loss? Must have been having a really good night before that if you'd call the end result "alright".

Okay if you are actually gambling, what you want to know:

Hit/Stand Soft 17, 3:2 or 6:5 blackjack, #of decks, %of deck penetration before shuffle(Just straight up avoid any autoshuffler), surrender/no surrender, double after split, rules for splitting aces, maximum # of splits, etc.

No one here has played nearly as much blackjack as you'd think because streaks like that will happen plenty if you play enough.

Got stroked real good on craps but basically treading water on BJ. Trying to wait out the cards here cuz it's the only 25 3:2 table but I haven't had a single blackjack in over two hours

Just got turbo cucked on a ace split vs dealer 6, made two 21s and someone hit and made him make a 21 too

Other people and their actions do not actually effect your long term blackjack results.

Someone playing sub optimally is exactly as likely to cause you to win as it is to cause you to lose. If all you know is the count then the next two cards could just have easily been the other way around in shoe.

Buddy I've actually probably won more in a night than you did in your career

I try not to tell people other than the dealer that people playing bad has a completely insignificant impact on their chance of winning.

The only way it impacts odds is if you know the count and they pull a card that changes the count to be ever so slightly more favorable to the dealer. But the odds of them doing that are stagnant and shouldn't impact your play. And if you really don't want others impacting your odds just sit at third base(But this will impact your own odds of playing for blackjacks as that is generally more favorable in the first seat if you are counting).

But if people are spending their money to gamble they are allowed to play the game however they want. It is their money and at the end of the day it is gambling.

Also I advise not playing blackjack while drunk.

I have seen some really successful drunk blackjack players but they are not the norm. Most make stupid decisions, annoy everybody, and spend more money than they can probably afford.

IIRC my last (losing) bet was $600, so it must have been a 6 streak started from a $25 chip. It definitely felt bad, regardless.

When you lose 7 in a row and the next hand gives you 8 8 vs A.

He hosts a poker game at his house with a bunch of guys way wealthier than him and he wins so much off of them. It baffles me that the group is still going multiple years in.

Must be nice to not give a shit about losing money every week.
