So wait, she is a Democrat, and she says she will vote for trans healthcare bans because that's what the voters want, therefore she will keep her seat in order to make sure Dems don't lose another seat?

That is a long way to go to justify your hate of the trans community.

Reminder that if someone can convince themselves one minority group is "too unpopular" to have human rights, they can do it to other minority groups.

And Republicans are already talking about how (cis) women should lose their voting rights, I wonder if she'd be in favor of that for a "political win"?

There's some who will be allies who fight for our survival, but they're just going to bend the knee to keep some semblance of power.

In their never ending quest to win over moderates Democrats are going to be a lot less vocal in supporting trans rights, abandoning them entirely when they think it's most strategic like in this instance. They're also going to become much more vocal in being staunchly anti-immigration, both illegal and legal kinds.

That won't stop Republicans from lying and saying Dems are more supportive of trans people and immigrants than ever. And people will believe those lies.

All in an attempt to appeal to folks who are just going to turn around and vote Republican anyway.

Its so stupid, they only look at voting data and see republican voters always vote and non republican voters you have to poke and prod and force them to vote, and so they think they need to court republican voters instead of their own.

Yep. All this will do is turn off Democrat voters making it more likely that the Republican beats them.

Unfortunately, this is also the result of people withholding their own votes rather than using them to stave off Republicans. It creates a vicious cycle where Democrats are forced to find votes elsewhere after thinking that their previous voting base has abandoned them.

People need to realize that not voting doesn't count for anything. It's far more important to show up and vote as then you contribute towards your demographic being represented. The last election had huge shift of every state shifting right, so of course people who want to be elected see that people want more conservative policies.

On the other hand, what are democrats supposed to do when their voters have repeatedly demonstrated that regardless of what's at stake they're just going to stay home anyways? It's a catch 22.

the democrats are fairly center left at this point so I don't ever getting this talking point lol, way more people vote against them for being too friendly towards perceived leftness than the actual centrism of the party.

Republicans get their dumbs dumbs to the polls better than the Democrats do. blunt simple fact that many refuse to basically acknowledge, why Obama and Clinton had great campaign victories, they speak to that part of the base very well.

It doesn't seem to have. The notion that leadership plays a role in shaping public opinion, also absent.
