Trump's claims about fentanyl are total bullshit. Less than 1% of it coming into the US is from people coming through the Canadian border.

Most of the fenty smuggled into the country is by US citizens.

The point is to expand US territory to the north (i.e. secure lebensraum, in the original German).

That's about right, which makes it very bad news.

What Trump loves about tariffs is that they are completely under his control. Baby wants tariffs to go up, they go up. Baby gets a bribe to make someone's tariffs go down, they go down. Etc.

An invasion of Greenland or Canada would prove Trump has absolute control over the US military. It's way too likely that he finds that to be an irresistible lure.
