I saw this earlier today and we waffled on it hard, assuming it would suck. We just watched the first one with my kid a few days ago

Movie stinks. I watched that in December and it was a let down.

I decided to skip the theater on this one and I think it was the right choice. I think its worth a watch, but definitely not worth a theater trip.

Wasnt a failed series, iirc they just realized they could make a fuckload more money making it a theatrical release.

Anyway watching it right now. Its alright so far but the lack of LMM songs is hurting.

I'm still amazed it made a billion, especially on only a 150 million budget, but I just never understood why the first one never made a billion. It's still my favorite movie of the Disney Revival era.

Never because its not made by Disney. It's going to Peacock in the not too distant future though

It really should've been a tv show, because I see potential in there. The other 3 characters were severely underused and served zero to almost no purpose in the grand scheme of the movie. Unfortunately, this sequel made a billion dollars (I unfortunately contributed to it because my Wife's side of the family wanted to watch it) and we're more likely to see this type of business decision made in the future to come from the big Disney IP's....which sucks. It's just night and day how much better Moana 1 is in comparison to the story and especially the musical numbers.

The pacing was a little uneven and not all plot points were fully explained.
But the artwork/animation was really fantastic. Even my 7yo commented on the fabric, hair, and lighting.

Just watched it myself and wowza it is not good. It is considerably worse than the original in every way by a large amount. Pretty disappointed as I enjoyed the first one a lot.

finished it and yeah definitely not nearly as good as the first. But the third act was solid.

Wont be adding any of the soundtrack to my daughters car playlist though >_>

honestly cant remember any of the songs and I watched it like four hours ago, and I remember after watching the first one for the first time I had multiple songs stuck in my head for a week.

Watching it now.

Yeah IMO it was horrible and I'm shocked it was successful. I already don't remember any of the songs and what was with those incredibly generic new characters? Couldn't tell you any of their names, none of them had an arc or any relevance to the plot. Hell even Maui had nothing interesting to do in this one.

Aw dang, should I carve out time to watch this and type up one last late review for my marathon?

It was ok. Literally just a decent straight to dvd movie that got a a theater release at the last minute.

Many of the movies problems stem from the fact that it was supposed to be a series.

It had some nice parts, but overall disappointing imo.

The ending was pretty good, but I feel bad for the bat lady.

My son and I actually really enjoyed it. I thought it was better than Toy Story 4 for instance, which a lot of people seemed to enjoy.

I enjoyed the parts with the coconut people, the ending credit scene and of course some of the other twists that I wont spoil. Im surprised it isnt getting a bit more love on here.
