Controversies aside ..its really really bad. Id say 4/10, but given the importance of Snow White for Disney, it feels even worse.

Tbh the dwarves are the best part.

It's a shame people have to ruin audience aggregators like this and can't just let a thing be good or bad on it's own merits, but unless there's some way to filter out internet weirdos who literally haven't even watched or played the thing they hate, it becomes even worse than out of touch critic reviews.

I agree with your point about finding someone whose values/interests align with yours and going to them for reviews. However I think user reviews are still useful to a degree, and the disparity between user and professional reviews just shows that the professional reviewers dont have the same values as the audience at large

Yeah I'll say one thing about user reviews. They do become more reliable once enough time has passed and the better quality reviews with high approval gets filtered to the top. Also I've found user reviews of films outside of the big budget movies from major studios, like indie or B movies, to generally be reliable as well.

This whole culture around review bombing, hate-watching, etc. is so odd to me. Like what a strange way to spend your time.

I saw it and ya it was bad. The cgi dwarves are fucked and lets be honest the fact they didnt hire little people instead when there is people who couldve used those roles is shameful.

it deserves a bad review just based on that alone, but the movie is definitely the worst live action disney remake, it isnt even close. Its not just chuds review bombing like some people would like to believe, the audience just didnt like this film.

It's better still to watch what looks interesting and not worry about how many assholes agree with you or how famous they are for thinking their opinion is objective truth.

I saw Snow White because my family wanted to, and I..... actually enjoyed it.

It's fun, it has hopeful themes (overthrowing an evil dictator, that's certainly not relevant right now), and it's basically just unabashedly a full musical.
Very fantasy, there are CGI animals everywhere and it's colorful and it has some memorable cinematic shots and the whole thing is basically just a cartoon with people anyway.
Heck, even the CGI dwarves kind of work for me because they were all unrealistic inhuman caricatures to begin with and they just fit with the style of the movie.
It's also almost certainly the best of the Disney remakes, at least from what I've seen of the others. It changes enough to fundamentally make it a different story, while *also* hitting most major scenes from the original.

Is the movie perfect? No, I could pick apart the movie critically if I wanted to. (Here's a funny one: They changed 'Prince Charming' to be a wisecracking bandit but by doing so they basically just made him Flynn Rider instead.)
But did I enjoy it? Yes. I'd dare to even say it was good. [*gasp* she must have terrible taste]
I decided to ignore the piles of bad press and just enjoy it for whatever it turned out to be, and I had a good time.

I'm pretty sure it's both. Most bad movies that come and go are in the 4-5 range on IMDB. This movie is currently sitting at 1.7 and the first (and only) review I saw is someone crying about "political correctness".

now Im actually curious to check it out when it hits Disney Plus.

If you liked it, that's fine. I personally found the original (not Disney) version to be kinda generic, and the Disney version the same, but with nice animation and more kiddy. I didn't bother seeing this one as a result. Kinda weird to hear that even the animals were cgi. With how "animated" the backgrounds looked in the trailer, they might as well have just made the whole thing animated.

I agree. I heard all the hate for Kraven the Hunter, but it was an enjoyable watch while sitting at home. Wouldn't say it was event movie status, but I thought it was worth a watch.

The ratings on this thing are ugly and it's harder to chalk it up to review bombing than just about anything I've ever looked at.

-Progressives mad about Peter Dinklage

-Everybody mad at Disney for LISTENING to Peter Dinklage

-Everyone mad that the CGI dwarves are ugly as sin

-Everyone mad thatvthe costumes look like they were bought from Spirit Halloween

-Everyone hating the piss-yellow filter over the whole movie

-Chuds and Purists mad that they've diverted from the original plot

-Progressives mad they didn't divert ENOUGH from the original plot

-Zegler herself pissing all over the movie for months, which for some reason made everybody mad, even though they all agreed the movie was already bad anyway

-And, last and definitely least, it's legitimately a bad movie

The score, though l, is absolutely ridiculous. Less than 2/10? Really? It's a bad movie, but it's not Santa Claus Conquers the Martians. It's not Troll 2, or Manus: The Hands of Fate.

Movie's a 4/10 at worst. Mostly due to Snow White just not being a very good movie for a live action adaptation at baseline.
