I truly do not understand.

The team wanted him to switch positions and it didn't go well. So I imagine when Kassas comes back, he may need to platy a little DH and you'd want Devers at 1B. Devers won't do that.

We can also look at how the GM grabbed Bregman and expect Devers/Cora to work it out.

As a fan, I appreciate Devers and I can see his side a little bit... but he's earning a huge contract so he should be a professional about it. And that wasn't happening... so a team with young potential stars can't really have him around.

50/50 blame

Red Sox have been a fairly shitty organization in recent years. I could rant for a bit but I just don't really watch them much. a shame.

So much for having four starters under 3 ERA.

Holy cow, what a game to attend. Mizorowski makes history by pitching 11 consecutive no-hit innings to start his MLB career, an MLB record. He was perfect thru the first 6 innings in today's game. Then Yelich hits 8 RBIs, a career high for him and ties the Brewers franchise record.

This was also my first ever road game I attended where my team was the visiting team. What a night!

MLB records broken in that game alone:
1. Misiorowski - Most consecutive no-hit innings (11) to start their career
2. Misiorowski - Only pitcher to have more wins (2) than hits (1) in first two starts
3. Yelich - most RBIs in a single game without scoring a run (8). The previous MLB record was 7, which happened 3 times.

The fact that they broke an MLB pitching and hitting record in the same game is crazy.

Ok, I'll stop geeking out about this game now. Carry on.

This was an absolutely horrifying loss by the Mariners. If they miss the playoffs, this might not just be a game, but a whole series they look back at. The Yankees were flailing entering this series. They win the first two.

Then you're up 5-0 entering the 8th and pitching a no hitter. You lose 6-5 in 10.

That can't happen.

oh my gosh, The Miz is an All-Star....after only 5 career starts? That's officially the shortest amount of starts to earn an All-Star nod behind Skenes 11 starts. Even as a Brewer fan, that's kind of crazy and probably undeserving, but he's the new hot flamethrower and I guess they want to showcase him on the all-star stage.

Also, congrats to former White Sox first basemen Andrew Vaughn, who just got an RBI in each of his first four games as a Brewer, which is a franchise record.

The game only had merit as your only real chance to see most of the players in it for a whole year. Once that was lost, it lost meaning.

I agree with this. A lot of misconceptions on the purpose of finding alternates. It's purpose is not to give ths snubs a free bid without having to actually play. They are looking for people who will play as a replacement for the original all-stars that can't make it.

well that was an exciting finish with the swing off. I think that would be fun to institute that into the regular season, say if you get through 12 innings and its still tied, do a swing off.

With that said, a little embarrassing that Judge and Ohtani couldnt participate because they already showered and left.....I know other players did it too. It's just kind of a bad look. Like, I get it. But, it's a bad look.

Teams to sweep the season series from the Dodgers (min of 5 games):

2025 Brewers (6-0)
2006 Cardinals (7-0)
1994 Braves (6-0)

This is also only the 4th time a team has gone 6-0 or better against the defending Champs. The other 3 times all happened against the '98 Marlins, lol.

The Pirates continue their string of oddities by getting swept by the White Sox (worst team in AL) only to then sweep the Tigers (best team in AL) in back-to-back series.

Remember earlier this year the Pirates were the first team ever to shut out a team for an entire series only to subsequently be shut out the very next series. That was the demarcation line where their 6 game winning streak turned into an 8 game losing streak.

What a bipolar team!

Also, the Brewers were denied free burgers from George Webb's when they lost yesterday, snapping their 11 game winning string.

George Webb's is a greasy spoon diner franchise in the Milwaukee area that has been around for a long time. Their owner made a bold promise back in 40s that if the local baseball team would win 12 in a row, they'd give out free burgers. It's a promise the restaurant chain still honors to this day. They've only had to own up to it twice in franchise history. This would have been a third, but alas, the Seattle Hamburglars denied us that privilege. As revenge, they belted 17 hits (no homers of course) to win today.

Oh, by the way, the Brewers have the best record in baseball! I will celebrate that for however long it lasts for.
