i remember when elden ring came out, it took me like 50 tries

now, post-patches on my current playthrough, it took 2. only died because they still make his 4 homing things two-shot you because game balance is hard

General Radahn only had his hitboxes fixed, and a brief period where some of his damage was reduced but was reverted.

Sadly the DLC Radahn is substantially easier now.

I know I sound like an elitist but I really loved have an ass-beater of a final boss.

The problem with DLC Radahn is the fight is seemingly completely designed around light rolling, which most builds are not, which is lame

Assuming you're not doing a turtle shield thing

i'm currently in the eternal city screwing around with a bleed/frost greatshield for attacking, and the icon greatshield for health regen

i really really wish weapon upgrading was more streamlined. there are SO many fun things to try, but it takes 100,000 years to get the resources to keep things viable

The only thing "nerfed" about General Radhan is not knowing you NEED around 26 Vigor unless you're going to basically No Hit his fight. Every other Souls game had slow Vigor progression requirements but Elden Ring suddenly wanted near the same number for End Game Bloodborne HP stats and it confused everyone.

Radahn is actually dumb anyway, you get blood, poison and rot arrows easily before his fight and you can just ride your Horse while summoning NPCs over and over and just shitting on him with Rot and Bleed arrows. Even easier if you get the Rain of Arrows ash from that shitty platform part where that one Golem is on the cliff.

The older games were balanced under the supposition that the average player would level each stat, one point at a time, because the devs didn't understand the concepts of builds, let alone capping your level. So everything was front loaded, and you could flesh out a solid build, capable of dealing with the highest NG+ difficulties after just a few bosses. There was also a lack of a respec option making this more or less necessary as a failsafe.

They eventually "got it" with Elden Ring, and made the stat scaling more of an S shape instead of a hockey stick, so you're still forced to commit to a build, but won't see significant returns until mid or late game, and scaled the late game enemies with the understanding that the community would have end/post game stats, or the ability to undo their fuck ups with a respec option. The average player never bothered to even go to NG, let along NG+6 in the past, so they said fuck it, and brought it to them instead.

I will forever be proud of the fact that I beat the main game radahn fight on my very first try and going into that fight completely blind.

(Barely won with no heals left to my name I believe and I didn't even know there was many more of those gold sign NPC summons scattered throughout the area).

I never did get anywhere near finishing that DLC so I didn't get to experience that.

*Actually I am a little annoyed I always had this DLC fight spoiled for me in general, lol. Not this topic in particular, but no matter where it was, this site, reddit, youtube, twitter links posted all over the place etc., I knew radahn was a fight in the DLC like, right away =/*

I feel like the Dual Wield Storm Knight is more of a jump scare. He just goes "NOTHING PERSONNEL KID" and zooms at you and deletes your HP if you don't dodge or use a Greatshield.

i don't like how so many enemies and bosses move around constantly despite being the size of a boeing 737, and often have attacks that hit you WHILE propelling them back a football field away. the Astel variants are shitty for this reason, and the final boss is extra mega +1 shitty for it

I was just extremely fortunate that bleed happened to be ridiculously strong when the game first came out. (After the quick hotfix we got that fixed arcane since it was not scaling like it should those first like, 3 or 4 days) and that I started off with as a samurai w/ the extra uchigatana.

Being a weeb and wanting to use katanas paid off big time, lol. Thank you bloody slash.

its different but its not that bad honestly. Its not like dark souls 2 where its like actually this part is easy if you do something tedious no one wants to do, its more like you are given a big back of tricks, most of them are fun, and they expect you to go nuts however you need to
