If you do stick with it, I'd recommend this. A lot of the original Homestuck broke when Flash ended and they didn't bother fixing it. I think they just threw up YouTube videos. You're also missing all the fun lunacy of the fandom, which I'll admit was a big part of the fun over the years. Also, please use the unofficial fan archive. Viz Media has let the site fall into disrepair, and the flash animations are replaced with static panels instead of walkarounds and such. The archive has working flash animations, all the bonus panels like Problem Sleuth/Midnight Crew interactions, etc. Problem Sleuth is worth reading as well. Very nostalgic for me as someone who grew up on web 1.0, AOL messenger, etc. The execution, however...ugh. The above ends up being maybe 5% of the experience and the rest is filled out by lolsorandumb nonsense, self-insert OCs, WAY too much esoteric terminology made up just for the story, time travel shenanigans. Also I don't think any other work of fiction in human history treats character deaths - even gruesome death - as something so inconsequential. Literally DBZ had higher stakes for characters dying than Homestuck does. Honestly, the main reason it was popular is because dressing up like a certain alien race in the story basically became this furry/brony-adjacent thing for a while. I can't believe how many fans I met who admitted they only skimmed the comic and skipped all the chat logs where like 90% of the story happens. It was a large majority of them. I dunno where I'm going with this. Let me try to wrap it up. The core idea was cool. It got bloated to hell very quickly. The majority of the plot is incomprehensible meandering. The ending sucked. The fandom was uniquely cringe, participating in it was the major draw of the series, and everyone has moved on.
