I almost never talk about this game here. It has been the butt of many jokes for years and deservingly so. Putting 2 on the box, promising PvE that never happened, the lost of free content, 5v5, etc. I get it even if I still enjoyed it.

Times have changed. After a ton of feedback I genuinely think this is the best state the game has EVER been in even since the launch of OW1. If you cant get past the broken promise of PvE I get it. That one piece of feedback will never come to fruition. Everything else though?

-You prefer 6v6? Its in the game including competitive.

-You prefer Open Queue? Its in the game as part of 6v6 with a slight limitation. (Only a max of 2 tanks)

-You are upset that you have to pay for skins? Not anymore. Lootboxes are back in the game. You cant buy them and they contain show skins for every season not including the current season. You see also guaranteed a Legendary skin after 20 Lootboxes if you didnt receive one by then. It even has a counter for you.

-They added Perks which makes the game have much more depth than before and help against counters/counter swapping

-They added Hero Bans in competitive which you can help customize your gaming experience to how you prefer.

-They added a new game mode in Stadium that is truly an innovative and separate mode for Overwatch and a main stay. It is even competitive.

-Map voting is coming soon and the devs have been reworking some of the worst maps in the game to make them better.

I know it sounds like Im just shilling for the game but Im really not trying to. Again, if you cant get past the PvE issue then I get it. If there were other issues you had with the game back then, I think it might FINALLY be worth giving it a shot again. Some of this could be happening simply because of Marvel Rivals adding competition. Also Marvel Rivals is in a pretty shitty state right now IMO so this is a good time to at least try it again.

Its what usually happens when a game gets actual serious competition with the competition game actually having staying power (in marvel rivals. Compared to the other older overwatch competitor games like paladins and whatnot marvel rivals is the one that is absolutely staying around and is actually popular). Competition usually forces everyone to step the hell up.

I used to like me some overwatch in the past and so its fine to read that they are still actually trying to make the game better than it's lowest points.

I still really want that promised single player story focused overwatch game though. (Something that is it's own game and not just tacked onto overwatch 2).

Thats fair. If they ever decide to do that then they need to go all in on it. What they released originally was actually not good at all IMO. If thats all they can do then I just want cinematic back because its a waste of dev time to make low quality missions like that.

yeah I'm glad they added a permanent OQ 6v6 mode. I've only been playing that instead of 5v5 lately. Loot boxes being back is a good change too, I bought the battlepass in season 1 and then didn't bother with any since then.

Perks are ok but I wish they would let you mouse over other people's perk choices in game to see what they do. I only play like 5 heroes and I have no idea what a lot of the other perks actually let the other heroes do.

Thats a fair opinion but I have a fear that Rivals might make the same mistakes Overwatch did. They do release a lot of content so not that one. More how they go about balancing things and dealing with problems. That could lead to a big issue of done very poorly and Overwatch rant into that exact same issue years ago.

EDIT: Even the responses in this thread are interesting because it shows how much they have improved. Before people would just respond LMAO DEAD GAME and meme on it. Now it seems people at least take it more seriously even if its not for them. I guess public perception is changing too because I honestly didnt expect civil comments about it lol

I actually miss playing pharah. She was my main, lol. Also really liked playing zenyatta, winston, lucio, and reaper.

One of these days I might reinstall overwatch just to mess around since they brought 6 v 6 back.

Rivals fixed a number of problems that Overwatch had, but its monetization is way out of control; $6 for a literal palette swap is absurd.

Marvel Rivals is a great game and all, but no way it's better than Overwatch lol

And Overwatch has had a huge amount of issues for years. But yes, there have been a ton of improvements within the last year alone.

Main thing I like about marvel rivals is magik. Man playing as her is stupid fun.

Pharah is really good right now. she got a rocket speed buff, and her perks are good(you can fly almost forever again).

u convinced me to give it a try again. i quit playing after OW2 season 2.

i played overwatch from launch until the very last day.

Yes lol. Theyve been back for a while. If you havent played since Season 2 you might be a little shocked how much has changed so quickly

hard to discuss this game online since everyone and their mom bought it but most only played like 20 hours tops so you get all these half-accurate, outdated, casual but weirdly strongly-held opinions, then all the bad press on top of that

see this is what i mean. they've never taken away POTG. maybe you meant the random stats cards after the match? who knows

My mistake its been years since I played. I do remember they removed the voting at the end

as long as the levels and loot boxes are back i can get into it.

i hate the fomo battlepass crap tho. ill be happy to ignore it.

There is talks of them bringing that back too. They said they want stats that actually matter. Not things like Most Objective Time

i liked getting cards for stupid random stuff lol
