Semi-related, some butthurt right-wing nut on FB suggested western Canada (BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan) separate and form it's own country. Like hell BC is up for being looping in with them. I'd sooner ask Washington, Oregon and California to join BC (or the rest of Canada). Alberta and Saskatchewan can be the 51st state.

They ALWAYS "forget" that BC exists in their Western separation fever dreams. The few that don't say that they'll just have northern BC separate with them since it's fairly conservative, as if where the actual population of BC would go along with that.

I'm surprised that they didn't include Manitoba in that. Not that I'd want that seeing as I live in Manitoba, but unfortunately it's largely Conservative outside of Winnipeg.

they do it to try and make it seem like its a bigger movement then it actually is, Really the only two provinces that have even a slight desire for it are Saskatchewan and Alberta, And if its just them it becomes obvious that its just a far right wing political talking point and easier to dismiss

I always chuckle how they seem to think they'd have an easier time building their pipelines as an independent country, as if BC would somehow be more likely to approve pipelines from Alberta to the coast or that the Americans wouldn't completely fuck over a tiny country that has barely any economic power. They'd be completely landlocked.

It's annoying that it's so easy for conservative parties to destroy their opposition with random bullshit, while never being held to any standards for their own leaders (who are always far worse than anyone they are attacking).

Id feel better if it wasnt just an obvious reaction to Trump antagonizing them. It doesnt mean voters have embraced liberal values; it means theyre tired of conservatives wrecking shit and want to do the opposite for awhile.
