Well, I guess PotD has +1 now.

How we have fallen.

That means less than you think. The boards are set up to purge around that number of topics.

If both boards had the same purge rate, we'd have more topics. Because they're currently purging at around 3 1/2 weeks, whereas we're purging around 2 1/2 weeks because we hit the topic limit faster.

I mean, for most of GameFAQs history, RI was way more active than we were.

Though both PotD and RI have definitely gotten worse since CE got quarantined. We're slowly turning into PotCE at this point.

The oldest post on this board is from 4/19, for RI it's from 4/11

At the height of PotD's activity, our purge rate was something like 3 days. And we had something like 1200 active topics at a time even in that range.

As the board slows down, it eventually hits a certain point where it begins to extend the purge point, so the board always looks like it has a degree of activity. We bottomed out at around 200 topics years ago, but our purge rate keeps getting longer and longer to maintain it. For a while we kind of plateaued around a 2 week purge, but right now we're the worst we've ever been.

Ironically, one of the most active boards on the site right now is Board 8. Their purge rate is only about a week. Granted, CE is even more active, but CE is both a) quarantined and b) absolute hot liquid feces.

Part of why I wound up hanging out on PotD in the first place was because CE and RI always moved way too fast. PotD was the one social board where it was at least somewhat populated (as opposed to private boards and the karma boards), but also slow enough where you could have actual conversations (unlike CE and RI). As much as CE has been the "big" board for a while now, there was definitely a time when CE and RI were pretty even in terms of size.

I'm not actually sure at which point PotD crossed the curve to have more activity than RI, but it definitely wasn't the case back in the day.

I remember way back in the day (the long ago and nearly forgotten age of the late 2000s), the two main GameFAQs alliances in Cybernations were from LUE and RI. Because attempts by other boards to get members to play always fizzled out.
