If this was other Disney produced stuff I would have expected her to be like "Look up at the sky, Han Solo" and just totally fuck up all kinds of lore for... reasons.

....you realize this entire show is a spin off of a spin off, that, itself; ends with an obligatory OT character showing up right?

There's a big difference between how Andor used a character like Mon Mothma and how the Mandalorian used Luke Skywalker to take baby yoda.

"Make it Stop" had a good example of making the show feel like part of a larger narrative while still allowing it to stand alone. The flashback when they first met was pretty self explanatory, the imperial soldiers were wiping out a while population. You can take it at face value as the Empire being oppressive. In Bad Batch, we see the Empire first employ this tactic. They're phasing human (as opposed to clones) in as the main army, and they're conditioning them to be ruthless by having them execute civilians associated with rebels. You can look at it as just part of the standalone show, but it fits in with the broader narrative with shoehorning.

I noticed something similar with the Ghorman Massacre. When they purposely sent in the underprepared recruits to get slaughtered. In Rebels, Kallus talks about his first mission on Lasan. It was a bunch of new recruits that got slaughtered by a particularly brutal Lasat. Then the empire used experimental weapons and nearly wiped out the Lasats. Kallus doesn't have to appear in this show for it to improve his character, now that we've seen the empire purposely sets up recruits to justify retaliation.

Lol.

Based on the way SW makes talent hereditary (Anakin was a great pilot? So is Luke!), I can see how someone could come up with that fan theory. In this case, talent for getting out of tight situations.

More likely its Greg Grunbergs character. Just because.

No, the show doesn't support that. We know Poe's parentage already.

His character already had a backstory. He'd be 10 years old by the events of the last story arc.

If you read interviews with Gilroy, it's hilarious how Skarsgard gave no fucks. When they thought it was five seasons, Skarsgard was like "Tony, I'm not doing 5 years. I'll do two, and you need to promise to kill me. Also, no revenge. I doon't want my motivation to be revenge."

In all seriousness, this series did not need to be the five seasons they were planning. It hits VERY well with the amount of episodes we got.

I like Season 2 more than Season 1 because it has everything that made the first season great but feels much more connected to the Star Wars universe. The first season took a bit of time to find its stride, but even when it did, it felt a good deal detached from the Star Wars universe as a whole. My friend also gave me that as the main reason he stopped watching it after only a few episodes.

This sounds like it will be an agonizing and self indulgent video essay.

also the flag smashers weren't painted as chaotic but misguided... they are shown sympathy by the main character in the show.

Also, the dudes in the rebel infantry that captures cassian arent representative of leftist infighting because leftist infighting usually has an actual reason behind it. A subject or a divulging on perspective or opinion on a matter of serious issue. In the show these dudes are jsut toddlers fighting over nonsense, AND They are woefully incompetent to boot.

Yeah ima not watch this.

Honestly they probably could've done one more then maybe they could have actually made us care about cinta and val and could've done a mini arc with saw and wilmon that were deprived of. 5 would've been ridiculous for a show of this pace tho.

overall, first half of this season was a bit slow but the second half was definitely worth it, specially episodes 8 to 12!

i even rewatched Rogue One after i finished it. definitely had a more traditional Star Wars vibe from what i remember compared to this show but i still enjoyed it!

it perfectly showcased how there was turmoil even among the rebels themselves...

I don't know about five, but my biggest gripe is the frequency of the time skips and the effect they had to diminish the fallout from major moments. Major character death, don't worry we are leaping ahead a year and every one will already be fine.

Oh yeah it hasn't been mentioned in this topic yet but the hospital from Episode 10 is Lina Soh Hospital.

Lina Soh was Chancellor of the Republic in the High Republic book series (well part of it, it takes place in two time periods).

Nah, I agree. It was still amazing TV but the time jumps made it feel less like a cohesive narrative. I wanted more time spent on each storyline and for more through lines to carry across the season, which doesn't work when you keep skipping. 5 seasons was probably too many but 4 would have been ideal.

Two was already stretching it for having Diego look more or less like he did in Rogue One. What if he'd done a George Clooney and aged like 20 years in one hiatus?
