Seems like forever since I replayed this game but it's only been 3 years. Takes a bit to get use to the battle system but once you get it things just click and everything is easy. Going human side of course. Fuck them Elves.

Only thing I remember about that game is it had a kick button you could press to kick everyone all over the world

Yep. And if you like recruiting games like Suikoden and Chrono Cross then there's that appeal as well. You can basically fight almost all the characters in this game.

It annoys me that the plot treats the elves plot as morally correct.

God damn I forget how big the castle and town is. Finally just joined the Theater Vacoor and about to do my first mission but first gonna get a bunch of items around the town, upgrade equipment and do some recruiting.

Every character in this game has their own unique look and personality. Nearly every character is a jackass including the MC who is very full of himself. Every woman he approaches is disgusted by Jack LMAO. Training with the dummies make you OP very quickly.

Love how every character has their own routine for every hour of the day. They put so much effort into making every NPC feel like they were living on the world and not just there.

Yup and it looks like they had even more stuff planned for the game but it just never came to fruition. A lot of the story just felt kinda random.

Be sure to unlock Nami Tamaki.

I'm pretty sure I played this. The name and the screenshots I'm seeing all look very familiar.

A tri-ace game published by SE. Sold 400k. SE if it isnt over a million it isnt happening.

i would like a remake instead that adds all the cut content plus a proper 3rd route we should've gotten but didn't in the game

I bought a used copy of ebay ~15 years ago when I started building a PS2 collection, invested a lot of time into it and was following a guide to help with some of the tricky recruitment (which makes it even slower), but then like ~60% through the game there was a minor scratch or something on the CD, so everytime a specific zone music kicked on for the specific area I had to go through it would freeze.

I remember enjoying it, but my backlog was so high and I didn't feel like getting another copy right away, so I moved onto the next game (might have been Rogue Galaxies or something), and then just never got back to it...

Which also reminds me that I was going through Tales of Rebirth recently, but then a family emergency pulled me away from it for a week right as I got to the start of the last arc, and then I just kind of jumped onto the next thing without ever finishing it and need to go back and do that soon >.>

It still upsets me that
A) Non human side gets no worthwhile healer making the end game dungeon item/command heal spamming and ruining combat flow but human side gets fucking Kain with a party wide 50% heal

And

B) You can't recruit the other 2 blood orcs and are stuck with only glavados, they have unique models AND you fight them on the human side like come on man.

I'm sure there are skills you can find and then use to heal the party in battle

Ya there is, I just hate menuing to them and using the volty gauge

Started the first group mission with the Vacoor but I just went on a leveling and recruiting spree. Got the transforming girl and Lily already.

Yeah good thing I know who to kick early game. I almost never kick mages because they always have a team of soldiers with them.

Never gets old although it's the first thing you hear when you wake up. Anyways, I didn't even progress more into the story. I just grinded some more in the sewers and against the dummies and then I went on recruiting everyone I could at this point. Thank god for a fast forward button and save states. They improve the QoL of these older games by a ton.

The game is dumb in that if you go to room the game will progress and you will miss out on some stuff.

Got done with the Croc quest. Just recruiting more people and leveling Aiden. Recruiting the villagers are such a chore.

Great game

Getting annoying recruiting some of these fucks lol. In order to recruit this farm kid named Yack you have to fight this rare spawn of a snake monster. That was the only time this game made it felt like a chore.

And then Yack has a very little open time where you can actually talk to him to recruit him. Again, thank god for save states.

Man, I forget there's the learning of the skills portion to this game. Gotta use the annoying Link system to learn them.

I remember really liking this game. I went into it not expecting much and it was a very pleasant surprise.

The game has a lot of charm to it but it has a ton of design flaws. The game punishes you for going to your room and for exploring. You need to know where to go and what not to do in order to not miss somethings.

Well I can recruit Gerald now and make the rest of the game ggez but I have to be able to beat him. Need to grind a bit more.

This was the second game that forced me to draw a map, being how confusing the final dungeon was.

Got Gerald and Nocturne's ass. I haven't even picked sides yet. Grinding out the Skills now.

I don't think I've ever beat him normally. I just poison him and run in circles for 10mins.

Get the Rune Saber or Medusa Spear. Make sure you have 100 Volt and spam Volty attack hoping to petrify him. It's GG if he's petrified

Picked human path. Got Kain.

Have you ever seen any of the speedruns? Gave me a new appreciation for Felix and Derek(think that's the right spelling, the other mage guild rep that's given to you).

I always just avoided and mages since it nearly everyone of them has a knock back/down effect and messes up combos but apparently they're cracked.

Since you end up skipping a lot of recruits, they are the primary boss killers post split thanks to multi hit ranged attacks. The only real rough fight for them is the 2nd gate fight.

Man I fucked up. I went to the Wind Valley with a full party so now I couldn't recruit Dynas. Have to restart with an old save now. Just lost like 2 hours of playing time.
