That'd be like saying Melee doesn't play differently than Brawl.

I wouldn't say Melee or Brawl don't control well though and I can quantify exactly what's different about them. It's not that either game controls inferior to the other but that they're trying to do different things. (Which I don't feel applies to Mario Kart to begin with)

I think the better analogy here is the original Super Smash Bros which I would argue doesn't control as well as the later games. Though I don't think it's as bad as Mario Kart 64.

Steering in general is just less responsive all around. It's exacerbated by sliding being bad which generally plays a huge role in allowing the series to feel smoother to play, but it's possible this specifically would improve if for some reason I decided to to spend any time on this game instead of any of the much better options.

I don't personally think MK64 is worse playing either, just that it is different.

Original Smash controlled the best until Ultimate came out imo so yeah I think I just don't understand your criteria

No shade, I wouldn't blame you if so. Just wondering at this point.

Man Ultimate as "best playing" is quite a take.

I can't stand overcomplicated input buffering.

I mean maybe it's hardware related in a way I don't understand but that's not what I'm trying to say. The games just do not feel good to play.

Smash isn't a series I have a lot of interest in competitively. I can hold my own as a casual-- a really good casual because I played Melee semi-competitively and play other fighters competitively, but I assume the backbone of your annoyance is lost on me.

Beautifully broken. The best racing 'speed game' despite not feeling all that fast. So many unique shortcuts, over half of the courses have some insane way to skip a huge chunk of the track - in some cases an entire lap. Wario Stadium can be finished in 20 seconds if you hit the wall just right x6 lol. Really fun multi-player when everyone knows the shortcuts, or just doing a 1P all-courses run.
