Upon watching as an adult, Lilo is definitely on the spectrum and I don't know if Disney is gonna be "brave enough" to show her being so clearly on the spectrum in live action. That is disappointing since it is so good for representation and so many youth I work with said that Lilo was one of the first characters they felt represented them. =/

More and more word of mouth I hear about the movie, the more I'm beginning to fear that's going to be yet another crappy live action Disney movie. They add in a lot of unnecessary characters that would otherwise take the role of the characters in the animated movie and downgraded a lot of the characters in the process. My daughter wants to watch this movie so badly in theaters with her friends, so I just hope she doesn't catch me sleeping watching this movie like how my nephew caught me sleeping watching Despicable Me 4.

I could accept Jumba being the main antagonist (because Gantu didn't do much in the original), but I'm concerned now about how far they went with it.

Edit: Unfortunately, the children don't care and I'm gonna get roped into seeing it. I must prepare, because Mufasa was genuinely one of the worst things I have ever seen and I'm not emotionally invested in that series like I am with L&S...

The trailers for this actually looked good. And Lilo and Stitch while good, had room to i prove on, like strengthen the Lilo and Nani scenes, and scale back on the dumb toy commercial chase scenes.

This one was so easy to do. The choices they made make no sense.

Reading these spoilers, I have to wonder if the people making it actually watched the original. Gantu is the only change I can sort of understand for budget reasons. And even then, that's only if you look at the movie in a vacuum and not the franchise that spawned from it.

Honestly I think that might be the reason these changes are so upsetting for this movie in particular. It's not a fairy tale or old legend where there's wiggle room to try new things. This is an original story made in the modern era with clearly defined characters and themes.

the average person is an idiot with 100 IQ and no media literacy and barely any literacy at all. They dont understand what makes a good movie and wont stop spending money on any slop that is marketed and has funny tik toks. Consider the type of person that thought Skylar White was a bad character because she gets in the way of Walter being a drug lord or who hated Joffreys actor IRL because they thought he was actually the character in the show

Given most of rhe users here haven't seen the movie im going to reserve judgement til I see it for myself.

Disney adults seem to have failed to understand after all these years that these movies are not made for 2000s kids it is made for 2025 kids and those two things are very different.
