Good anime. Don't know what I would rate it now if I watched it. --- Gamertag: Kegfarms, BF code: 2033480226, Treasure Cruise code 318,374,355, Steam: Kegfarms, Switch: SW-1900-5502-7912 ... Copied to Clipboard!

I just have a real hard time with shonen anime tropes and that one was filled with them. Otherwise would have probably loved it. ... Copied to Clipboard!

I rated it a 10 but I'm much harsher on ratings now than I was in 2008 or whenever it was that I watched it. The only one I know I would never lower from a 10 is Legend of the Galactic Heroes. I rarely use MAL now anyway. --- Gamertag: Kegfarms, BF code: 2033480226, Treasure Cruise code 318,374,355, Steam: Kegfarms, Switch: SW-1900-5502-7912 ... Copied to Clipboard!

Salrite posted... I just have a real hard time with shonen anime tropes and that one was filled with them. Otherwise would have probably loved it. I feel like it almost managed to transcend the shounen tropes to enough of an extent as to make them more ironic than played straight, but it didn't quite achieve that. Broadly, you can look at it and say that the fact that it goes from In general, though, the theme of "if you don't have enough confidence in yourself, trust in the confidence I have in you" and supporting Simon's character growth with that was enjoyable. --- This is my signature. Man, it was totally like that with Konosuba. It's clearly meant to be a parody of all the tropes and where the comedy is meant to be derived from, but it's so egregious that it really turns me off. There's only so many times when then masochistic chick begs to be spanked where it stops being funny and gets real old. ... Copied to Clipboard!

Ironic overuse of tropes walks a very fine line and takes quite a bit of nuance to avoid falling into actual overuse. --- This is my signature. It exists to keep people from skipping the last line of my posts. ... Copied to Clipboard!
