Gonna try out something different today and include the variants from the remake to see how we like having them all together for the future.

NA for the original, EU for the remake

holy shit the na/jpm 3ds one goes so fucking hard

NA GBA > EU 3DS > NA 3DS > JPN GBA

This ones a tough choice, I like how the European 3DS one follows the same style as the NA GBA one.

I think NA 3DS is pretty nice - I like the character art and the simple box.

But NA GBA is pretty iconic.

Is it weird that both he 3DS ones look like AI to me, especially the EU one? Both are too clean and smooth, weird lettering, bad shadows (especially the EU, really fucked up the shadows), and awkward perspective.

NA GBA is the best by far. The EU 3DS has nice composition, but is otherwise too off-putting. If I had all of these on my shelf, I'd prefer NA GBA > NA 3DS > JP > EU.

Have to go with the original NA/EU. The EU 3DS one is definitely a contender, though. That's a lot better than the US/JPN version of that game.

I assume JPN having any votes is just a case of somebody who never actually looks at the box art but always votes JPN anyway.

What's everyone's opinion on keeping the series like it's set up today, where the remake box arts are also included?
Or should it go back to the way it was?

NA/EU by a mile. The DS versions look way too clean and sterile. Reeks of the so called "Mario mandate" which supposedly set a standard for the Mario brand. The original JPN is really boring too.

I've always been fond of the NA boxart for this game. It does a great job of showing the chaoticness of the game, whereas the original art is pretty boring. The EU 3DS art does a good job of capturing that energy too, but I'm a nostalgia whore, so NA original art gets my pick.

idk, I think the minimalism (with a scrunkier Cackletta) adds more to the M&L template boxart than cramming a ton of characters to the side. the full boxarts are both pretty awesome.

EU 3DS is my pick.

Definitely NA. A lot of old box arts make you wonder if they even played the game at all but NAs box art here perfectly showcases the major characters that youll be seeing the most.

Almost went with NA/EU, but Luigi's face is better on EU 3DS
