Trying to equivocate the Democrats and Republicans because of a relative handful of Dems taking this stance compared to the entire Republican Party trying to legislate trans people out of society entirely, is complete doomer bullshit. You're part of the problem if you try to spread voter apathy with this.

This line is pointless. No one said every single democrat is a good person. In fact, a lot of people recognize that democrats are crappy at a lot of things. The only thing though is they are STILL better than having republicans/Trumpers in office.

There are aabsolutely Dems who se this moment as a time to forsake trans rights and that's shameful.

Many others are adhering to it and that's laudable. Support the latter and marginalize the former.

But hating trans people cuts across party lines. Indifference, even more so.

Democrats are gearing up to move further away from explicit support for trans rights. You can deny this but the signs are there. They won't abandon them completely but in an attempt to shake off their image of being "too woke" they're going to be a lot less vocal about it while allowing things like this to fall through the cracks, primarily because they want to follow what the polls show.

It's a pattern of Democrats to shy away from issues when they feel it's advantageous to do so, while simultaneously giving the impression that this is a temporary "one step forwards, two steps back" situation that will be remedied as soon as they have a supermajority. It's logical but it really doesn't instill much confidence that Democrats can be trusted to keep to any principles or values, not just with issues like trans rights but everything from economic policy to immigration.

Point is, Democrats want to gain favor and the polls they adhere to say the majority of people don't like trans athletes. They're willing to concede on this in order to win, and if anybody has issue with that they need to shut up and keep quiet or else the Republicans will win, and maybe they shouldn't rely on that kind of strategy.

This kind of thing will keep happening, and the same "it's just one instance" defense will reappear. I don't want to be a doomer, I would love to be proven wrong.

There doesn't need to be a hive mind, there just has to be enough of those at the top to aggressively direct things. A party in lockstep like what the Republicans have would be their dream but unfortunately for them they have a generally more autonomous base.

Democrats are the better guys but politicians lately have been following money. It's important to focus on local governments. It's easier to push for federal policies when you have examples of local policies working out well. Plus local governments have a more direct effect on people lives than the federal government, generally.

You'll find more success in pushing out trans rights through local and state governments which can then influence the federal government. A good example of this is actually marijuana. States started to decriminalize it and at least before Trump got elected there was federal movement towards reclassifying marijuana which I doubt would have happened without states allowing its use in the first place.

Yes, and it's the same story in the Senate. They're doing good in the moment in that specific instance, the concerns are with the future. The song and dance of Democrats capitulating on this that and the other thing, all while reminding us that Republicans are so much worse so stfu, will continue and it's demoralizing is all. It wouldn't sting so bad if Republicans never had to change their tune on anything ever.

There is absolutely no middle ground on this issue and there honestly should be.

There has to be some accountability and honest consideration for trans women who have gone through male puberty and have their muscles, organs and overall body develop under higherevel of testosterone vs a biological woman.

We cannot even have an honest conversation about that and the research data that exists comes off very bias, downplaying the advantages that this type of development can offer trans female athletes over their other female competitors.

I know I'll probably get a negative label but the reality is, these conversations need to occur in honesty and without bias for any healthy progress to be made.
