So with the Switch 2 dropping tomorrow, Im just wondering:

Not tomorrow either way, because it's Thursday that it comes out. Probably not on Thursday either, though. I don't have a preorder and I don't plan on going right when any stores open, so I don't expect that I'll be able to get one. I'll pick it up eventually.

Not yet, Mario Kart World looks fun enough but isn't a system seller for me. I hope everyone else has fun with whatever they decide to get starting tomorrow.

Note that those are Canadian prices, $700 is for the MK bundle (the console alone is $630), and $110 is the price for MK and (presumably) future games that are priced at 80 USD (70 USD games are $100). The price is still definitely a bit of a sore point, but he's presented those numbers without some pretty important context.

Canadian dollar sign should have a different design than $. Even C$ would be better

Usually there will be something to clarify in a context where confusion might have actual consequences, like C$, CAD, or appending CDN to the price. In everyday use in Canada, though, there's no particular reason to bother with such things.

Unambiguously, my last Nintendo console was the GameCube, and handheld the 3DS. Switch defies that distinction, but I've never had one.

Hard to say. The Switch 1 is still $400 CDN, which is what I paid for it in 2017 (loosely equivalent to $300 US, much like $630 CDN is equivalent to $450 US now), and other consoles don't seem to be getting much by way of price drops (quite the contrary, Xbox's price has gone up), but there has been a pretty considerable backlash to the pricing. At the same time, though, projections are suggesting 15 million units moved by the end of the year, so as much as the backlash has been loud, it doesn't actually seem to be affecting interest and I don't know that there'll be that much motivation to reduce the price unless those projections turn out to be totally wrong (like having been inflated by scalper pre-orders that don't reflect long-term demand).

Console prices this Gen haven't really dropped like they have in the past. I remember getting my slim PS4 for $150 IIRC on Black Friday. I don't think anything this gen besides the Switch Lite has gone anywhere near that low.

I haven't even touched my Switch in like 2 years.

Really, the last few years have been weird, economically speaking. Just looking at inflation, $300 for a Switch in 2017 would be equivalent to almost $400 today, whereas $300 in 2013 (when the PS4 came out) would have been equivalent to ~$335 when the PS5 came out in 2020. Covid and crypto mining also made a mess of the electronics market in ways that it's still recovering from, which I would expect meant they couldn't take advantage of the kind of reductions in manufacturing costs that they'd be used to.

Though the more salient point is probably that people expect there to be weird economic factors, and that lets companies get away with keeping prices steadier/higher than usual.

No to both. I enjoy drinking, but mostly only do it for social occasions these days. I thought it would be difficult, when I told myself no and didn't keep any beer in the house, it was easier than I expected. Feeling much better and when I can drink, it's far more special than when I had a beer or two after work.

As for the Switch 2, I'm boycotting it in hopes that something will stick (although realize that it more likely than not won't make a difference) to combat these shitty business practices. They've made it easy by having nothing but Mario Kart at launch. I knew some gamers were easily parted from their money before this, but the amount of bootlickers and blind fanboys for the Switch 2 is astonishing.
