i used to keep peanut butter and honey in the cupboard and bread in the freezer, and i'd make sammiches every day.

and then one day i went... i don't remember using that much honey?

then watched 10 minutes later as one of my coworkers came in, grabbed a spoon out of the drawer and took a huge spoonful of honey and then shoving it directly in her mouth, then spooning another spoon of it.

i was like.. fuck you.

never brought my own food in to work after that, just went out for lunch.

I go home for lunch so id be genuinely surprised if my coworkers managed to steal it.

Yes, once. I put a vitamin water in the fridge that I was going to have with my lunch. At lunch it was gone. We have 30+ people here, so I have no idea who drank it.

I assume it was a simple mistake though, because I remember seeing that same vitamin water flavor in the fridge a few days before that, so they probably thought it was theirs. Either way, if I bring a vitamin water now, I put my name on it, just in case.

Yes a few times. My boss would sneak my stuff here and there when we were having a fling. I took no issue with it though. Shed bring surprise lunches or offer for us to bail to go eat often enough anyways.

Creamed honey is great, I've done it before.

It is a regular occurrence in the medical field.

I was told at my psych hospital job that essentially people just...take people's lunches and eat them, sometimes even if you have your name on it.

They'd even be like "why didnt you put your name on it?" and it's like I shouldn't fucking HAVE to! Did YOU bring a Marie Callender's Turkey Pot Pie for your lunch? No? Then it ain't fucking YOURS is it?

Yeah but it was food given to me by a supervisor so I didn't trip.

No sane person would steal a salad. So I'm good :)

Never my lunch but maybe food as I usually have lots in the fridge.

Another thing , you saw this coworker do that, did you confront them right then and there?

We have a food thief at work but it's an attorney so none of the staff can confront him without repercussions, possibly up to being fired. We caught him on camera several times and management refuses to do anything. Even when another attorney imported some like $80 pies and he stole them. It's pathetic.

Yes. They didn't give a shit. So yeah, I brought all my stuff home at the end of the day, threw out the honey, and never brought food to work again.

Did you ever get a chance to get even?

Yes, once. They took my entire fucking lunchbag, which also had my tupperware and silverware from home. Never found out who it was but I was really shocked because all the people I worked with at the time were really cool

Why would I? My manager hated me so I tried to stay under their radar.

Not in the refrigerator but one time I got a work call during my dinner and left my big cookie on a table with my drink. I come back a couple minutes later and can't find the cookie. I look over and my worker, who wasn't even on break, was chomping down on it.

I did but it didn't help much. He just claimed he thought it was for anyone and was unapologetic about it. He didn't last long anyway.
