Nine Sols is a very great main theme with many fresh elements to enjoy :) Diantha is also a good song, but it doesn't quite cut it against. Spring to Mind is very unique, but I think I'm looking something more like Auld Lang Syne to advance. This song makes good use of its length with consistency, and that's sometimes all you need. Brinstar Dephts is a track I kinda dislike when playing the game, but now that I can pay attention I can respect what it does. Unfortunately, I cannot give it a vote when Stella Glow is here, this soundtrack has always been a banger and today is no exception, this one's reaaaaaal good and I want it to go far. :)

MATCH 1

Nine Sols has a very cool alt rock sound with an incredible vocalist. I love her high notes and the vibrato in her voice during them like at 2:05.

X&Y Champion is a decent champion theme. I like the part at 0:11 the most. I don't remember if there's any champion themes I'm really into from the Pokemon series. I know for Elite Four themes, I really like Black and White's and Sun and Moon's Elite Four themes.

Spring to Mind is not my thing. Honestly, I always ignore the Groove Coaster machine when I go to the arcade lol.

Auld Lang Syne was another song I was watching in the last hours of nominations. I really like the vocals and there's some cool electronic stuff going on in the background as well. I like that one higher-pitched melody at 0:14 especially.

This is a cool Brinstar Depths arrangement. I always liked that melody at 0:32-0:44.

Hikari no Metamorphosis is in the dramatic flavor of anisong, and it sounds great! As is often the case with these songs, the chorus is great and definitely one of the highlights of this song. Funny enough, for a while, I didn't know that several songs I liked in the video game sphere were sung by Konomi Suzuki. Besides this song, it was some of the OPs and EDs from Summer Pockets (specifically, Alkatale from the base game and then Asterlore from Reflection Blue for the OPs, and Lasting Moment for the ED), and those songs were what made me make the connection. Days of Dash from the anime The Pet Girl of Sakurasou is the song that put her on my radar by name as a singer. "This Game" from No Game No Life is also really good.

Nine Sols is honestly pretty cool, a Chinese/English rock song is something that's pretty neat and wish to hear more of if it can be done in a style like this one. The screaming is a little off-putting (a little funny even), but it's such a small blemish compared to the rest of this pretty good song.

I don't remember much from X/Y, but I always thought some of its music was pretty banging, and Diantha's theme is probably my favorite Champion theme so far. It's surprisingly on the cuter/bubblier side of battle themes in this series while still being energetic enough, maybe that's why it's always stuck out to me.

Spring to mind is a weird but interesting pick, this is honestly the last song I'd expect to be a rhythm game song. With how echoey and "noise-driven" it is, I would've thought this was a Silent Hill/Resident Evil sort of track. Still, it does take at least a recognizable melody for me to be into something as "avant-garde" as this one, so it ends up not doing too much for me.

I listened to the original Auld Lang Syne before listening to this one - I guess I prefer this "version"? I like the techno sounds in the background and that little twang from the guitar in some parts (it's a BIG shame that the guitar solo isn't until seven minutes into this), but I'm not really attached to the singer's voice nor the repetition I can hear/feel during the verses. It's alright, but I can safely say I'm not in love with this one.

Melee's OST is an all-timer with a good handful of stellar examples, Brinstar Depths being one of them. Shogo Sakai knocked this one out of the park, taking a simple NES tune and transforming into a glorious, creepy and tense sci-fi/arena rock piece. This just oozes with alien vibes in the best way possible.

I think the barrage of anime music we've gotten this year has finally hit my limit, because I'm beginning to not really distinguish Hikari no Metamorphosis from the others. The vocals feel pretty standard, but it's the backing instruments that are kinda saving this because it feels very Bravely Default to me. Otherwise, it feels like another anime OP whenever the chorus comes back.

XY champion theme is actually like so , weird compared to other champion battle themes or even other battle themes on XY. It's in this weird space where they kind of wanted the pokemon battle feel but also the Electronic feel (but like also them not really being versed with the production of that) and also having semiorchestral kind of something and it gets reallly modulationary to make it like , climactic, but it kind of isnt even really very climactic? it's really interesting especially as whats suposed to be like a final battle theme of the game

Nine Sols^2 is... fine! The visuals are definitely carrying it for me but the song itself doesn't really hook me. That scream caught me off guard the first time i heard this LOL XY has the champion theme i think i am most "whatever" towards and yet I can understand if people really gravitate to it, there's pretty much nothing else like it in the series. and also yet i still give it a 7.5 because i have too much loyalty to this damn series it is CLOUDING MY VISION AND MY EAR VISION

I should really like Spring to mind a lot more than I really do. I think if it was like 20 seconds longer and did like one more thing I would... maybe. who knows!!! auld lang syne is so insanely good hoyl moley people compare this to t260g but in reality its like t260g on crack THEY YASSIFIED AULD LANG SYNE yeah just. its so good lol

it's actually kinda crazy how both Brinstar and Brinstar Depths from Melee basically encapsulate everything I LOVE about Melee's soundtrack into just two songs, every single specific patch choice in this song is PERFECT 10/10 no notes absolutely oozing with my favorite roland noises (that is a bad phrase because a lot of them are my favorite ME WHEN THE POWER DRUMS COME IN AT 1:15 SCREAMING!! the choice to make specifically those kanji read as Hikari is why i love jukujikun so much [note: not sure if i am using that right in this case, basically just the more non-standard a reading is the more i love it] but then I looked up where it is explained that these are read as Hikari and I found out there english version of the song is on the album and literally just called Hikari no Metamorphosis in latin characters so guess that answers it!!! but then it begs the question what to call the japanese version in a vgmc context and the answer is DONT CARE ASK ME AGAIN LATER anyway this song is good stella glow needs to show up more
