Because that's...one of the most blatant lies I've ever seen. It's so aggressively clear that they're just going after whoever and then retroactively claiming that they were dangerous by exaggerating minor things or outright lying.

Genuinely wild statistic to see either way. I really don't know how things got this bad, and I don't know how you counteract this much propaganda when people are eating it so willingly.

Once all the undocumented immigrants are gone, the documented ones will find out just how "legal" they really are. If you have brown skin, it won't matter if you came in "the right way" or not

Immigration is a long, drawn out process. Those who go through it hold those who haven't in contempt, not just because they're skipping steps but because they paint all immigrants in a bad light. There's also a "fuck you, got mine" mentality where many wouldn't care if the borders get shut down now that they're citizens. Lastly, they believe Republicans when they say only those who are here illegally will get deported.

In hindsight, believing that the vast majority of legal immigrants would be in favor of a message that we need more immigration and will have sympathy for illegal immigrants was foolish.

I don't see how there's surprise, legal immigrants don't generally like undocumented immigrants, and a lot of Democratic immigration solutions involve handing people who skipped the line a lot of the same benefits that those who worked through the gruelling naturalization process get, while allowing them to continue to compete in the job market with an unfair advantage (being able to take sub-minimum wages).

Also, note the humongous gullible liars Trump Elon and Maga are. Then remember the immigrants, legal and illegal, that come to the USA yelling of the socialist communist gulags that stole all their money they "worked" for (aka that they conned, mob, scammed, stole, tax evaded, embezzled, insider traded, enslaved for, or their parents) and that the Democrats are the exact same as.

Scammy maga born in the USA are no different from imported scammy maga from another country.

Don't necessarily believe every story you hear, from them, especially when they say Dems are just like their old country. Maga brains are maga brains. Gullible or repeaters of lies and think scams (like Donald's) are just "smart" business.

They're people who grew up where authoritarian dictatorships are the norm. They started feeling safe under Biden and Obama and now they've gone back to their roots. Nobody's going to want to build a coalition with backstabbing fifth columnists anymore, there's too much at stake.

It's not just the GOP now though, the point is that otherwise non-conservative voters are getting flipped to Trump off of single-issues.

A 1980s Republican is basically a centrist now.

a lot of countries people immigrate from are heavily right wing so it stands to reason a lot of immigrants are heavily right wing.

right wingers are all evil or idiots no matter what country they came from. the ones that make it to america mistakenly believe "they are the good ones" that will somehow be accepted by american right wingers

Yes.

Immigrants aren't a monolith. There's a lot of animosity between legal ones and illegal ones. And even for the ones that know illegals, they believe that they're only going to go after "the bad ones" instead of those friends and family (which they then equate "the bad ones" to mean other nationality groups).

Also, this is a little of "shocked Pikachu" for the dems. A lot of these immigrants are going to be conservative. All the GOP had to do was some selling that they're not racist. The rest is a far easier sale.
