this and both legend of legaia games are some of my fave JRPGS

I literally found out about it just last week by doing my weekly "legend of dragoon remake" search lol. Found a reddit thread from a month ago where I think the ex president of Sony mentioned he doesn't think a Legend of Dragoon remake is realistic. Something about it would need the FF7R treatment and it would be too costly to do all of those towns. Then someone mentioned that fanmade Severed Chains project.

The best shot LoD remake had was maybe if Dart had gotten into PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, as he was originally planned to. And if that game was actually good. Maybe then the hype would've been there.

no no it does not need the FF7R treatment

in fact id hate if it got that kind of remake

the only thing a remake needs to do is remake the game expand on some plot points (like kongols dragoon spirit)

we dont need some giant interconnected open world

the world map the original had would be fine

I started playing it for the first time, and was really getting into it, but then Claire Obscure and Oblivion: Remastered came out, so I put it on the back burner for a little while.

Yea, I thought that was a crazy comment as well. But maybe he just meant graphic wise but even still, it does not need that. And I don't think people are even asking for that. I'd definitely be happy with a remaster like FF8 got. I just want to play the game again enhanced. I'll check out the Severed Chains project this weekend.

Still can't believe it never got a sequel. It may not have been a FF7-killer release, but it had a lot of cool ideas and deserved to have the bad ones ironed out. The soundtrack is still amazing to this day.

It was only a couple years ago that I found out a sequel was actually planned but then scrapped.

As a kid, I never beat the game. Pretty sure I was at like 95% completion. The problem is I got completely lost at one point and had no idea where to go next. It's been over 20 years, but I think I was supposed to find/kill divine dragon? Or something. I just remember running around everywhere on the 4th disc trying to find what to do next.

Sony has done nothing with Bloodborne and LOD and then continues to pump money into absolute dog shit like Concord, Marathon, and Mindseye.

Nothing with bloodborne yet.

This failed GAAS initiative is fairly new. You don't just snap your fingers and the games people actually want come out. Takes a long time to see the change.

I agree it's stupid but a lot of things in gaming are stupid. Look how long it took to get a silent hill 1 remake. Better late than never. Also sometimes the wait is worth it, the technology is a lot better now than say if they started the previous decade.

Shattered memories was so different that it was a completely new game that happened to have the same characters as the original Silent Hill. And really outside the motion controls it was a pretty good game

25 years ago and I was almost 25 myself. 1 year shy at 24. It doesnt stick out as much as 1999 did to me but only because I came home from the Navy in 1999. I came home in May. Went to the video game store and on a blind purchase bought Legend of Legaia that was mentioned and Lunar Silver Star Story Complete on ps1 has legit just come out like the day before and I bought that. Two amazing purchases. Then that fall Suikoden II came out. What a great year.

2000 really only sticks out in my mind because of the launch of the ps2 in the fall.
