Snowball Fight #3 - Shuyin

Shuyin was already dead when Ritz found him, the imprint of a ball much larger than a snowball denting his skull. Which is great because she had to go be at a party instead of serial killing today. But she stole his shoes anyways because she still wanted to commit some kind of crime, and she could get a twofer of theft and desecration of human remains.

Poor Shuyin, I see he was equally victimized by that novella

It was a good run, especially given the statistical history of the character. Wouldn't have been possible without this year's Seymour support of course. Though this does sort of put me in the same mindset of how good characters I support can do in this contest; this placement was a very typical landing spot for most of Seymour's first run of contests until he was booted.

Quistis had been to some strange places on her travels, but a place where you could conjure an image of the dead just by thinking of them had to be near the top of the list. However, she hadn't been able to get that dream (if that's truly what it was) out of her mind. That's why she'd had Faris bring her here. Was Lenne a real person? If so, was she alive or was she dead? The Farplane would hopefully give her some sort of answer.

As Quistis stepped through the barrier into the Farplane, it really did feel like she'd stepped into a different dimension. She was the only one here at the moment despite it being a fairly popular place for people to visit. She wasn't sure what the "rules" were here. She'd heard all you had to do was think about someone to get them to appear, but did you have to know them? Would Lenne really appear?

Quistis pulled out the mysterious card she'd held in her hand when she woke from her dream the other night to get an image of Lenne in her mind, and then she focused as hard as she could. Suddenly, an ethereal being appeared before her, floating in the air. There was no mistaking it: This was Lenne. However, what did that mean? Only those who have died are supposed to appear in the Farplane like this, so had she reached out to Quistis from beyond the grave?

Before she could think through all the implications, another person appeared. However, he was standing right next to her on the ground, and he was looking right at her. More precisely, he was staring at the card in her hand. Quistis remembered this young man as the one who had been on the card she'd used to win the game against Lenne, which had caused her to react so strangely. There was clearly a connection between these two, but she couldn't fathom what it was.

The young man didn't speak, but he continued gazing at that card. "Do you want this?" Quistis asked. He nodded. She tried to give it to him, but he shook his head. That was strange. Then it occurred to her. "Do you want to challenge me for it?"

The young man nodded his head again, and then a table appeared in between them with a Triple Triad board already on top of it, along with two chairs. Quistis pulled out her deck of cards and took a seat, as the mysterious stranger did the same. A deck of cards materialized in front of him when he did so. "Let's do this," Quistis said, and the game began.

She'd never played a game quite like this one before. After she played her card, another card would just materialize on the board. The mystery man did not pick them up, and he still did not speak. He was a solid player, but he was still no match for her. The final card he played was the one of himself that Quistis had used in her dream match, but she countered it with her Jack Garland card and won the match.

Although she had won, Quistis felt no satisfaction. In good conscience, she couldn't lose on purpose, but there had to be another solution. Well, she did win a card of her choice. "How about we make it a trade?" She took his card, and then she left the Lenne card in its place. With that, the mysterious stranger vanished, but she thought she saw a smile on his face before he faded.

Her business concluded, Quistis departed. Right before she exited the area, she thought she heard a faint, "Thank you," in the back of her mind. She didn't know exactly what she had accomplished, but she hoped it had helped the two of them find some sort of peace.

We'll need to get another X-2 exclusive character in next year to get a last standing since both Paine and Leblanc got booted. I suggest Tobli, that little dude is hilarious.

Nope.

There have only been two instances where an X-2 exclusive character finished inside the top 30. Leblanc finished 17th in CXXII and Baralai finished 27th in CXVIII.

Okay we've definitely more than made up for Shoe being relegated to ded last in STATS now. Gotta get Gippal on the board at some point, and I agree that Paine should be the Last Standing X-2 leader. Too bad she got ded last this contest!

So quick to turn on Broth- oh wait he's not X-2 exclusive. X-2 is just the one that gave him a terrible personality and story arc.

it's a fun game, especially when you skip cutscenes

Yeah, the gameplay is fine but the story and all the characters are atrocious
