people like JD Vance and Steve Bannon and their ilk are already talking about how the democratically elected government of California needs to be removed and replaced with "their people" because of some minor protests in LA.

Fortunately ICE is about to run out of money and Congress wants to slash billions from the budget.

That would only be relevant if ICE was spending an amount of money near what was budgeted by Congress.

They are running out of money in the way someone lost in the desert is running out of water.

There just isnt any left anywhere.

The reason Lander was at that court is because weeks ago, ICE began deliberately re-arresting people attending their court hearings, with the stated goal of stripping them of the right to see a judge and instead subjecting them to rapid, judge-free deportation.

Eh, the modern GOP does horrendously without Trump on the ballot. It's entirely plausible a detained Democrat wins a midterm.

I could (illegally) obtain a jacket with "Police ERO" on it. Anyone with the ability to stitch could make a jacket with "Police ERO" on it, and illegally pretend to be part of the police. Wouldn't give us legal authority.

It's much harder to fake identification, much harder to fake a proper arrest warrant, and much more likely that the person arresting you can actually tell you why you're being detained.

Looking back at that assassin, he kind of wasted his time perfecting his cop disguise when anyone can just walk into a federal building with a mask on, zero identification and arrest people with no one contesting it.

They were in a federal courthouse.. You can't just waltz in there unless you've been cleared. You have to go through metal detectors to even enter the building. There's also an ICE ERO office down the hall, so many of them work right there. It's the safest place for arrests for everybody involved.

A warrant is not required, though they did say they had a warrant, probably administrative, which they almost always have. They don't have to show it to random people. Judicial warrants are only needed for private residences.

They are being put into expedited removal. Biden removed like 1 million using expedited removals, and Obama did 1.75 million using it, both the majority of removals. People might not agree with it, but it's legal and always has been, especially since most of these people would have come in the past 1-3 years.

This is similar to Biden's June 2024 EO at the border, and why things slowed down even before Trump made it even stricter. Most of the city and state want deportations because it has put a lot of unnecessary stress on working class minority neighborhoods throughout the city, especially in Queens and the Bronx, and the city and the state are still spending billions extra on top of all that.

The ones trying to stop it are a tiny minority, which is why this is not gonna help Lander. It might even hurt both Lander and Mamdani. It looks bad to a lot of the outer boroughs/city. People around me in Queens have been rolling their eyes at the stunt, especially since it happened days from the election. Ras Baraka was also arrested by ICE, yet he flopped in the election last week in NJ.

Hochul getting too involved would probably walk us right into Stefanik in 2026. Hochul is already on very thin ice.
