For what's it worth, I'm certainly not a Destiny stan.

Zei Squirrel used to be a Destiny fan until they drifted apart due to the former refusing to debate him in live video format.

Kimberly just inventing viewpoints to transpose upon people to dismiss critique of the Squirrel is just a touch troubling.

Mostly because you're using the same arguments that those communities do, considering how well trying to point out the anti-imperialism angle went.

That's generally how those communities interact with what is pretty general left-aligned schools of thought, socialism in particular. In my experience, anyway. Trying to talk about why it's not really tankie so much as it is anti-imperialism kinda went...well, you directly implied I was a tankie (which is fine, do whatever) so it went about as expected. That's also generally how those communities interact with others.

That tankies can exist isn't really in question. That they can exist under- or unchallenged in leftist spaces isn't really, either. They obviously can, much in the same way that far-right people can blend in among centrists until you start probing them a little too hard. (And no, this is not a coy implication that you're far-right. It's an acknowledgement of your point.) I just think you are mischaracterizing what's in those screenshots and I'm not really seeing anything that says as the discussion progresses.

The difference is Ive seen so many of the squirrels posts that I know they are insane and not someone to look to for genuinely good political commentary. Seriously please just go through their posts and I do not think you will leave with the thought process that theyre disliked because they.dislike imperialism? Anti-imperialism is absolutely 0 of the problems I have with that account, and Im still incredibly sketched that calling Ukraine a proxy war nobody cares about is somehow an anti-imperialist lean. It reads as minimizing and downplaying it as an invasion and there is 0 reason an anti-imperialist would do that.

The issue is that there doesn't seem to be any actual way for Ukraine to win, unless the US and other countries provide far more support than they have been (which people fear would provoke Russia to escalate), with the current levels of support basically just prolonging a slow loss and constant death.

I'm sorry, but Tankie positions on Palestine is "Never Give Up Never Surrender Fight Forever" which contrast markedly.

Thing is Russia's and Israel's demands are of differing levels of severity.

Russia wants all occupied land, all disputed land, a removal of sanctions, and a guarantee that Ukraine never joins NATO.

Israel wants Palestine to not exist as a seperate sovereign government with any land at all.

It'd be different if Israel was simply pressuring a pro-Israel but nevertheless two-state solution with Palestine, comparable to Russia's lopsided negotiations with Ukraine, but they're not even meeting that low bar of decency.

Tankies seem fine with any resolution that isn't "my country literally does not exist". Seems to be an understandable breaking point.

Russia wants all Ukraine and a complete genocide of Ukraine's culture to the point it ceases to exist as an indpendent entity.

Tankies likewise want a complete cessation of existence for Israel. The most extreme ones want a full exile of "settlers"

It's true that that's what Russia wants long-term, but those are not its immediate demands for the end of the specific current war. Russia isn't including its loftier goals in the negotiations since they're obscene non-starters. Unfortunately Israel doesn't understand the concept of non-starters, because it expects military welfare from the US regardless of its asinine demands.

Well that just makes the absurdity mutual.
