Dookie is one of my personal top albums of the 90s.

I do really like Dookie but not really a fan of anything past that. And pop punk is my favorite music genre.

I was a fan back in the day (07-11 were my high school years, but I got into pop punk around 5 years earlier than that via Sum 41)

Every once and a while I go back and do a daunting discography listen through on a band I either skipped out on or didn't give a big enough chance, and Green Day has been the most recent one

Sum 41 is/are and will always be my GOAT, I've seen them a handful times and they've killed it every time, most recent being maybe 5 years ago

Im not a massive fan but I enjoy a number of the radio hits and there is no denying how big Dookie was. It came out just a few months before I graduated high school. For a guy like me in the Midwest in farmland it took something immensely popular for us to get that punk rock/pop punk to reach us and that summer Dookie and Smash by The Offspring fit in that criteria. I preferred The Offspring more but I really did enjoy Dookie quite a bit.

Kerplunk is very fun in that lo-fi variety. "Warning" is awesome for a lot of stripped down vibes. It has some of my favorite songs. Hell even "American Idiot" soars with some of its songs. Just after that I think I just was burning out on them. So much of their later releases other than a song or two, I didn't follow any of their albums.

If you haven't already, you should dive into Bowling for Soup. Great pop punk band that has so many awesome songs. Everybody knows 1985, but they have a ton of other really good tunes.

That's a perfect band for my list thank you! Listened to their hits and I think I saw them at a warped tour one year, but no extensive listening of any kind

I think before green Day the last one I did was Avenged Sevenfold which was a TREAT, when I hit high school I was already well on my way into deathcore and metalcore so A7X wasn't quite as heavy as what I was wanting

From Dookie, 'Emenius Sleepus' is such a hit of a minute and 44 seconds of music. Also maybe it is an anti substance abuse song, well umm whoops. Don't get overworked. How about J.A.R or other b-sides. That 90s into early 2000s Greenday put out tons of great songs.

I didn't realize we were giving recommendations but you can't go wrong with swedish punk rock Millencolin (if you don't mind the vocals) or Face to Face. I just tossed a couple quick ones out.

Girl All the Bad Guys want is pretty good.

Also, I listened to The Bare Necessities, a cover of the Jungle Book, and I loved it. Too bad it's not on Spotify though.

They're one of those groups where the individual songs are really hit or miss for me. Weird thing is, the hit rate doesn't seem to vary that much by which era the song is from. Two very different sounds, and somehow they both managed to be hit or miss for me.

Well this topic makes no difference to me! I heard their much later (serious) songs, but I remember Half Hour of Power was 4-6 dollars in the store and I was all yea I'll get it, and of course Fat Lip was their biggest at the time. It was even in NHL 2002. It had a bunch of Canadian pop punk bands like Gob and Treble Charger.
