Just service workers, retail, fast food, etc not greeting or acknowledging you when you approach them.

That is so extremely and thoroughly not a generational thing that I'm honestly taken aback at how little one would need to interact with society to actually believe it.

It's feels like Im losing it when I interact with most zoomers. I kinda just don't wanna hear them speak.

Then you come across that one kid that's extremely polite and has manners, and it catches you off guard.

I'm getting old

I feel like its more a symptom of how people in general these days act and interact and it just so happens those retail/service industry positions are filled by younger people than it being thats how young people are

That shit does drive me crazy though. Like It makes sense not wanting to put on that fake happy and cheery overly warm attitude that employers want their employees to use with customers, but basic conversation etiquette should still be in place

Like Ill take anything a head nod, a grunt, a thumbs up, etc. just do or say something to let me know youre ready to begin and/or conclude this interaction

Exactly. I don't care about them being friendly. But I just need some acknowledgement that they are ready for me to place my order lol. A nod is enough. This kid was basically a potted plant.

It's not "new or exclusive" but you're fooling yourself if you think it hasn't gotten worse for the generation who grew up with social media and a phone in their hand since childhood.

The amount of kids/teens and 20 year olds who struggle to maintain eye-contact, do an activity without touching their phone or know how to form relationships with people has skyrocketed.

I feel like you live a pretty isolated life if you haven't noticed this. Hell just go to any McDonalds or Walmart and you'll see kids who can barely walk, playing vidya games on their mom's phone. Not saying a word or looking at anyone. That's how they're growing up.

Is Zoomer Stare when someone is in some kind of a trance thinking about anything else while seeing someone/something? Looks more like attention deficit.

If this is just a serious face, it may be someone just tired of everything like 90% of customer service or salesperson as that job drains your soul.

Business would sooner get rid of Customer Service with AI and self checkouts then actually increase wages.

By the speed technology is advancing, job security feels like more and more of a pipe dream if you're not in a really big position.

I'm going to take a wild guess and say you've never worked a retail style job in your life. As somebody who has, the bolded attitude is a sure sign of a customer being a Karen.

You could pay a fast food worker 25 an hour And they'll still give you that blank stare often because it's often a menial thankless job with little upward mobility and little in terms of fulfillment. Only way that changes if if they really like their coworkers and have a good time while being there.

Which is nearly impossible because it would have to factor the idea that you would have to deal with shitty clients and spending the entire day making junk food.

Did you say anything to them first to indicate you were ready to order, or did you just stare at them with the expectation they should be reacting to your presence?

If I based my view of entire generations based on the most socially inept people I see from those age groups then Id hate every single generation.

If I based my opinion on Gen X entirely on my anecdotal encounters with the ones I work with then Id be saying wow Gen X is the sex pest Gen huh

but no, judging millions of people because some dumbasses were born at the same time as them is dumb
