Rules

5. In general, if there are two picks that can be considered the same product (i.e. Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic Adventure 2 Battle), I will combine them.

Classic rock bands can be from any era.

Bands are typically a group, but solo performances are acceptable too.

PSA: People, the classic rock era goes from tbe 60s to the 70s, and includes genres like hard rock, folk, acid rock, and garage bands. Its the hippy era of rock, not 80s onward. It does not include metal, punk, grunge, and glam. Even though metal and punk got started in the 70s.

They continued making music for a good while later. (Well, maybe not Hendrix.) More to the point, I'm framing my decision by what I would expect the local rock station to play. They play the groups you mentioned, and they don't play The Beatles unless it's for a special reason. Granted, there are a decent number of bands from the 60s and 70s that I never hear via that station, but would absolutely be lauded in a ranking by Rolling Stone, so this shouldn't be the singular criteria.

they also played R.E.M., Guns N Roses, Metallica, RHCP, and Pearl Jam, but the age gap has expanded similarly to how consoles have become more retro in recent years. Its just a giant field now lol

Well yeah, classic is a continuously expanding category, almost by definition, because things don't stop being classic
