I saw it at an Imax theater and can confirm it was louder than Oppenheimer

No version of Bruce Wayne would ever retire like that, without at least ensuring a next generation replacement like in Batman Beyond. The movie's ending on the surface seems like a happy ending for casual viewers. But to a real batman fan, it makes no sense and is just stupid

I put that I liked it and I do. But, as others have pointed out, it really IS kind of a mess.

There are gaping plot holes in this movie. Just gaping. If you think about it for one second, it all crumbles.

But there are some great moments and interesting ideas. The first two Nolan movies built up so much goodwill it is still nice to be back with those characters and keeps it from being a disaster.

I wish it had been better. If it had been a third great movie, we would be talking about one of the greatest trilogies of all time. Instead we got a third movie that was perfectly watchable, and deeply flawed.

You're right, no version of Bruce Wayne would do what you said.

But then again neither did this one. He deliberately sets up Blake as his successor.

Now, if you mean no version of Bruce Wayne would have a happy ending where he leaves Gotham at all, well, you're not wrong but I liked it anyway.

What did you guys think of Bane's voice? I think I remember the director stated he intended for it to be difficult to follow at first, but overtime, or in repeated viewings, it becomes easier. But the idea was for it to sound less humanlike and so more menacing.

Did you think it "aged well"? And that it was a good idea in the end?

Honestly Banes voice just comes off as goofy to me.

There was a lot going on with his voice. Whether they just picked the most jacked guy they could find and he happened to have a funny voice, or whether the voice was a reason they picked the guy and/or something they intentionally had him do, I have no idea.

But in addition to having this weird cracky falsetto Winnie the Pooh thing going on and an accent I can't quite place, the mix is seriously distracting. His voice doesn't feel like it's in the scene at all. It's more like a voiceover. For all I know, that's what actually happened. But in any case, these things really make it stick out awkwardly:

1. The sound is loud even when the actor isn't. This was probably an adjustment they made in editing so you can hear it better. Just like you can tell a difference between someone whispering close up and yelling far away, you can tell the actor isn't actually speaking loudly most of the time. For example, in the scene where Daggett yells at Bane, Bane replies barely above a whisper, but his voice actually sounds louder.

2. General processing that doesn't fit the rest of the scene or the other characters' dialog. I'm not quite good enough to tell what effects specifically by ear, but if I had to call it, maybe compressor distortion and some kind of wonky EQ settings.
