I heard there were some Midwest cities that started to build subways but then when the 1929 Great Depression hit, work was abandoned. But the tunnels still exist

Oklahoma City is like this, there is a huge underground that was built and all interconnected though I heard it was meant to be like an urban underground with shops and things. Then they just sorta gave up on it I guess and the vast majority of it is no longer accessible to the public. I got to go down there once when I was a kid in school though to one of the few areas still open.
