"border security" is popular with both party bases and it is true that Rs killed a bipartisan bill in order to run on immigration in 2024. So it is right to criticize Schwarzenegger about this

There's plenty of people who would call themselves democrats and think the US should have a better idea of who is crossing the border and where to and being able to regulate that better and more officially, without supporting masked thugs terrorizing neighborhoods across the country every day

Probably.

But Chris Murphy ain't one of them.

There are no societal negatives to allowing immigrants in, undocumented or documented. They create more jobs than they take, commit less crimes than natural born citizens, add to cultural aspects like music/food/etc, and pay taxes without receiving equivalent benefits in return. If anything, undocumented immigrants themselves are the only ones harmed through things like labor exploitation. All this panic around them is just propaganda and hysteria.
